The finals venue does not need this formatting.
Not good for the game/sport.

Always been, ea player gets one break each set, and opponent can tag team your BR break.

MR took the bathroom break time, from two 10 minute breaks to 7 or eight.
And watching that annoying, opening scene ''over and over''.
Gets old.
I think the formatting got the players, ''outta stroke''.

Players don't wanna sit around MORE/and dwell they wanna play and get their swing rhythm perfected.

Yeah, but extending the players sitting/waiting/sitting in their Chair, time at least 50 minutes when they could be Playing?
This game is so precise, one needs to be swingin' it....
This formatting, is like playing an intentionally Slow player.
It's probably just me, but.
It's NEVER been this way in this game.

I remember when the Fudgsicle had it perfected, then yrs later they changed their sicle to ??
It never sold, yrs later.... they went back to the original mixture.

The commercial breaks are about 3 minutes each, usually after every 3 games. But, sometimes, they skip it near the end of a match. There was no commercial break at 9-9 in the Gorst/Zielinski match, or at 9-9 in the Gorst/Baoanan match, or at 11-10 in the final match. And the balls are racked during the break, so each break adds less than 3 minutes to the match.

For the 7 matches played on Table 1 on the last 2 days of the event, the number of commercial breaks in each match was 3, 5, 5, 5, 4, 5, 6.

There were no 10-minute breaks, no 7 or 8 breaks per match, and no extending players' chair time by "at least 50 minutes."

But I, too, wish they were not so numerous.

Thx 35 minutes, plus sitting down etc, but numerous they were too00000000000 much for this old school.

What was 35 minutes? Read post #4 again.

Adding up your totals were 33 minutes I rounded up to 35.
Just seemed like Allot of walking away from the computer at home, then hearing the samo/samo introductory part.
They should of had commercials 7 times instead of the overhead shot of the NJ flood plains.

No, not 33 minutes. 33 commercial breaks at about 3 minutes each in total for all 7 matches. And each one adds less than 3 minutes to the match because racking is done during the break, not after the break. So in the match with 3 breaks, they probably added about 6 minutes to the length of the match. In the final match, with 6 breaks, they probably added about 12 minutes to the length of the match.

it's been this way for years. i'm no fan of commercials personally but it's way worse in other sports and this IS their bottom line, and this is why they can offer better prize money than ever before in the US open

i and other PPV stream viewers don't see the commercials and i'm very good with that too

Thx, just thinking about the game.
I tired of looking at the NJ flood plains too much :) waiting for play to resume.

Watchin' golf/Tour championships.

Just said from Now till the end of Tournament (couple hrs) Commercial Free.

As others have mentioned, the breaks were for ads, which helps support everyone involved in bringing you the broadcast.

Additionally, the regular breaks seemed to be mostly appreciated in-person. Yes, I occasionally found myself sitting there and wishing I didn't have to wait an entire two/three more minutes for the next rack, but I also just as often appreciated chatting with my neighbor about the match, or the chance to run to the bathroom without missing any action (and judging from the movement of dozens of the hundreds in the crowd each break, others agreed).

As well, the players would immediately get up and run off each break, presumably to walk around/clear head/use bathroom/clean up/whatever. Rarely would a player sit there during the breaks--I remember Baoanan doing it a couple times, but that's about it.

All told, I think breaks are very useful for the people there and of course, again, to keep sponsorship money flowing for the actual broadcast.

Totally agree, but we never get to see a player dig in, come back from waaaaaaay and smooooooooth out.
It's impossible if lets say your opponent puts a five on you with 3 breaks built in and you've been sittin' now for How long? 1/2 hr?

Add up the time, they spent showing you the helicopter pics of the outer banks.... EACH time the came back before live camera, that would be where I'd put the advertising, not waste it on DEAD AIR.

Zar.... did you enjoy the dead air flyover video/progamming EVERY TIME before play rebegan?
Who's ideas was it to show the wetlands?
EVERYTIME....
Hell... why NOT put a commercial THERE?

You do realize the "dead air" you're experiencing is because you're watching a stream and not the televised broadcast? There is no advertising for stream viewers to see, only TV viewers. The arial shots of AC prior to getting back to the match are run after the ads have aired. As I stated before, the Matchroom events are televised live on Sky Sports in many countries. Your gripe is the equivalent of going to the Super Bowl and wondering why they can't just play the game straight through without all the "interruptions".
