Watching Mark Allen in the finals of the Snooker English Open today was a treat. The comments more than once mentioned his precision control of the cueball. Mark's eyebrows telegraph where he's looking and it's at whitey on contact.
The precision of the strike to whitey rules. Mark Williams has demonstrated a precision strike with his eyes closed and looking away. His Robotics are so ingrained and repeatable that he can do it without looking. 🤷‍♂️
Looking at whitey as I strike it gives me instant feedback as to the accuracy of the strike. Watching whitey's reaction as it leaves the tip tells me if I hit it as I expected.
Perhaps object ball last could be better for long range shots. Judd Trump said object ball last and is a premier long pot maker. Of course Judd's comment of "object ball last" came when speaking with Steven Hendry. I suspect that Judd has tinkered and perhaps come to the dark side after Hendry revealed to Judd that he looked at whitey last.
The list of Champions that do it is substantial. The only comment from Ronnie O'Sullivan that I am aware of was, "it could be either."
Okay I need to go to youtube and leave a comment for Ron the pool student. His experience seems to run parallel to mine. 🤷‍♂️
 
Gorst says he looks at the OB on long shots. I don't think a stricter regimen, like on all shots, would hurt. You should track the CB all the way to the hit though.

Most often it's the cueball as it's final resting point is my target. The object ball can find it's target at a wide range of speed. Cueball speed and spin after contact is where precision is rewarded. Planning a precise resting place for the cueball is important for me on every shot. There was a time when I didn't devote as much attention to the cueball finish on game balls. I found myself missing simply because I had not completed my plan with a precision cueball resting place. Even when a scratch isn't the hazard I need to plan the shot to the cueballs's final resting place exactly. 🤷‍♂️ Missing game balls is like eating smart pills. My Dad called rabbit pellets smart pills. 🤷‍♂️

True student of the game will find it very educational. So I grab my coffee and enjoy the replay
 
Oh wow! Just watched a shot where Mark's eyes seemed to move slightly ahead of the stroke. Less than stellar shape was the result. 🤔 Comments indicated the Poor shape. 🤷‍♂️

🤔 Even a Champion can get ahead of himself.

Knowing the final result......makes it a perfect opportunity to examine ever ass spect of Both players. Looking at the fingers the chin the stance the focus the attitude the result. 🤷‍♂️ what fun.
