I have a work trip to Norfolk this weekend for several days, my hotel is a few miles from Q Masters, always wanted to go there since it's so iconic to the US Open and probably pool in general. Is it still a pool vibe there or did it turn into a college kid and drug dealer hangout? Still exited to see it even though Barry is not around running it.

I hope you are well my friend. I look forward to your review of the place as that is a bucket list pool room for me to go to.

Great to hear from you Brian, I'm still hoping for a trip to your area hopefully this year. As far as a review, the place is really well done, they have a ton of 7-ft tables, I'm not sure if they always had them or if that's a newer addition from all 9 footers. I got a bit lucky and got the front table which was very clean and played well. Also due to me being ex-military they comped my table time. As far as players go, I asked the desk person if they have tournaments and they said that their clientele is pretty much league players and people coming just for fun over people that play in tournaments, the tournament that they had going didn't have a lot of people showing up for it. I still have a few days in the area and definitely planning to head back there.

Welcome to my hometown Virginia Beach! I consider Qs my homeroom and play league there 3 nights a week and 1 Saturday a month for non-handicapped Champion's League. I also am involved in the Tiger Tour that plays 1 event there a month that is handicapped with fargo divisions. I'll be there tonight if you are looking for action!

Unfortunately since the passing of BB we have seen the room transition from 9ft to mostly Diamond 7ft barbox throughout except for the back room that remains big tables. They currently charge a flat table fee and then you keep the balls as long as you want so that combined with multiple leagues APA/BCA/In House there is basically a waitlist every night for the public players.

Its great to see the place doing so well, even if the tables aren't quite up to the standards that Barry kept them and the drink prices keep going up, but I assume that is the case everywhere. Hope you enjoy your stay!

It is twenty-two months since my last trip to QMasters, but I was very impressed. Good atmosphere, the place is clean, good ball sets and good house cues, and good food.

I think you will have a good experience there.

I was last there in 2022 for a tournament. I only played in the back room with 9’ tables. It has stadium seating for the rail birds with great views of the tables. My only minor complaint is the 9’ tables are a mix of Red and Blue label tables. I say the red labels played fine all though I’d prefer not to have to switch around during the tournament. Super nice room.

I missed seeing your post, I was in Monday but they had a 45 min wait and I decided to not wait. I played Tuesday all night, met a random fellow work traveler who came in and we played in table 55 for hours. I really like the place, the food I got was good, and they had good old fashioned mix, I was told one of the cooks makes it.

I haven't been down to q masters in about 6 or 7 years, it pisses me off to find out they replaced a lot of the 9fters and have have adopted more league play but that seems to be the norm now. It was a really unique place when I went. There's a heated 3 cushion table in the front room that I got to play on. When I first got on the table someone offered to make a phone call if I wanted action. I met a lot of unique characters and the tournament room was really cool (Used to be off limits to out of towners) not sure if it is now or not. There's a cue workshop in the tournament room that used to be run by Dave Bollman before he passed. Dave was a fantastic player and I'm sure some guys in there can tell you about the great gambling scores he had in there and on the golf course. Anyways I'm saddened to hear the place has gone down hill some. It was by far my favorite pool hall that I ever visited.
