Single layer tip in between an Elkmaster and Triangle or Lepro?

Same here. I've known about Royal Oak tips for decades and during that time I have played pool all over the country, and have read a lot of forums, and I have yet to ever even hear of somebody that uses them, much less meet anybody who does. I wonder if they are just popular in some small region of the country or something because you would think somebody has to be buying them for them to stick around for so many decades.

Around 85 reviews on Amazon for this tip but a very small percentage (around 10% are USA reviews, some positive, some quite non-positive). Maybe this is a European or Asian market tip?

Good call, that makes sense. USA generally doesn't have a good outlook on all things "royal" whereas European markets probably have some sentimentality or think "royal" as a way to explain quality/the best. Kind of like how different products are "By appointment of Her Majesty." It designates a quality product.

It might be able to help explain where they could be selling today, but it wouldn't help explain who was buying them in say the 90's when there was no foreign market, and there were far, far fewer tips to choose from, yet I never personally saw one around then either.
