at those speeds they tend to think and play only to the next shot. which means they cant stand a chance on better players even with a big spot.

she was much better at it than him. but still doesnt look far out so it gets you out of position even if you get good position on the next ball.
Disagree for the players on this stream. They look through the whole rack and try to solve the problem areas. Maybe not successfully, but def not “play only to the next shot”.

I think it's a matter of accomplishment and familiarity. For cosmological navigation, (just coined that :ROFLMAO:) the next ball is all you need to be concerned with - the other principles of smart sequence being ingrained. Available memory is always a concern.

That's a lousy spot, right? It should be more like 15-8.

I find that most players end up playing with a spot favoring the stronger player. The stronger player does not want to give up easy wins to the weaker one, and the weaker one has an ego that often will over-ride their pure logical side to get an easier game. I know many players who insist on playing better players even, despite never getting a win that way.

I think this is one of the reason I enjoyed the recent SemiPro event at the international. For some reason, it was very entertaining to me seeing those players because it's the speed of player that is at the pool hall anyday of the week banging balls around with the rest of us. And it was just fun seeing a non-handicap tournament for those levels.
