What Cue/Shaft You Planning to Buy Next?

I’ve been thinking about upgrading the shaft on my vintage Viking. The original shaft just doesn’t have the finesse or feedback I’ve felt with other cues, so I was considering either modifying the taper or replacing the shaft altogether.

Now I'm starting to think that money might be better put toward something like a Mezz. The Viking has been one of those cases where I really want to like it, but in my experience it’s just outclassed by other cues I’ve played with. While I agree that the shaft makes the biggest difference in how a cue performs, I suspect a Mezz would have better overall balance, hit feel, and resonance than what I’d get from simply upgrading the Viking’s shaft. To be clear, I'm talking about my vintage Viking, not Viking as a brand.

I'm going to SBE this year, so I'll see if I can try a Mezz and maybe get one there. If it's not what I'm hoping for, I'll look for other options at the exhibit. I'll be sure to stop by the Viking booth to see how their cues have evolved in the 30+ years since my cue was made. Who knows, I might find my forever cue there.

While most of the performance is in the shaft. The butt does contribute quite a lot to the feel and that will affect performance as well
 
After how I played tonight at our local city pool league I don't need another shaft or cue I mainly need to get the arthritis pain to settle down or better yet just go away !
I spoke to my arthritis Dr and he's giving it a honest try to get me on a different medicine but what he's suggesting is one that you should get a shingles vaccine shot first at my advanced age which my insurance company is dragging their feet of course !
Sorry about the rant , I'm stepping down off my soap box now ha ha !
 
If I wasn’t broke I would like to buy this McDermott D-3 I saw listed recently. I just love the hit of those D series cues. Still have the D-20 my dad bought me when I was a kid. I would also love to have a D-15.
