PBS St Louis 2026 (Men’s World 8 Ball Championship, Mixed Doubles, Women’s Open, Bank Pool), 1-8 April, Half Million Prize Fund

Fu is a legendary player that took quite a few years off from the game. She has won the World 9ball, the World Teams championship, the World Heyball, and two China Opens. Had she not taken a long break, she might have become a BCA Hall of Famer.
Fu has the best break in women's pool.

The power she gets is ridiculous.

why don't they use racking templates? Seems like most players are having trouble making balls on the break- is that what they want? It would also save time as it takes the refs quite a while to rack the balls

Carlo Biado broke and ran 8 times in a row! If the format were any more offense heavy, it would be even less interesting IMO.

The randomness of the break is intentional. At first Predator was just hawking and selling its product. Then Predator realized the rack made breaking a way to keep 8-ball more competitive.

The randomness of the break, of course, means it is easier for top players such as Filler and SVB to get knocked out early. So this 8-ball tourney requires a lot of luck.

I haven't watched all of the matches, but that seems to be exceptional- most players seem to be struggling on the break. Even Shane was struggling to make a ball.

Bergman and Fu win the 3rd set 4-0!!! They will play the winner of Gorst/Hung vs. Zielinksi/Seo.
Shaw and Centeno should have won the second set and the match. A few glaring errors.

I thought the game changed when it become more about safety battles. Shaw started to instruct Centeno more instead of letting her just play her game. A mistake in my view.

While Shaw and Centeno played some good safeties, Fu and Bergman were better. At no point did I see Bergman instructing Fu at all. They consulted a few times, but he was not a man doing any pointing.

I have never seen Fu and wondered who she was. Love to know why she has gotten back in the game - she sure has looked good! Playing and beating Mast now with a chance to get to the final 8 on the women's side.

Well the way she is playing, you can't tell she took any time off! Apparently she is back and coming on strong! She was a pleasure to watch last night in that doubles match.

Feels like a rule change is needed.

Winner breaks is fine, but should be capped to 5 break and runs from the start of the game.

So in the Biado example, the break would have automatically switched at 5-0.
if pool players played basketball, “no player taller than 6’ 5” can play, its not fair”

Yapp has Fedor's number. He's beaten him 7 out of the last 8 times.

A 10-9 win for him after Fedor scratched on the break.

Watched Seo/Zielinski vs Gorst/Hung. Great match with a lot of solid play both ways.

Seo and Zielinski are an interesting team. He can get really negative at the table, yet she is a picture of composure. I think her consistently cheerful demeanor at the table rubbed off on him a little, and it was nice to see. She seemed to bring out the best in him. Well played!
It's definitely weird to reply to my own post, but I am not at all surprised by Zielinski's fine effort to reach the quarterfinals in the World 8ball.

Honestly, what I saw in is his mixed doubles match alongside Seo was the best mental game I can ever remember from Wiktor. Seo is making it happen, too, as she is on to the quarterfinals of the women's 10ball event.

Wishing both of them the best of luck.
