How common is it to see the players around during the tournament? Like do you see a player in a restaurant or something?
If your around the Crucible area you will see plenty of players and pundits, there is a very good Italian cafe around the corner from the venue that a lot of them use.
Steve Davis is also commonly spotted around Kelham Island (Sheffield's good beer area) and has been known to do the odd DJ set around the city during the fortnight.

Plus nearly all the Chinese players live in Sheffield, Ding even had his own snooker hall / academy here.

gossip gathered from the usual suspects in the snooker punditry: trump may be affected by home issues, neil robertson and mark williams are out of stroke. most of them say zhao and trump final.

i went with shaun murphy finalist and selby finalist.

No Ronnie? :)

Ronnie O'Sullivan will be playing his first match in this year’s competition on Tuesday, 21 April, at 9:30 a.m. EDT. He will face He Guoqiang in Round 1, who has won two of the three matches they have played against each other.

This year will be Rocket's 34th appearance at the tournament, having played in it every year since turning professional.

i never bet ronnie. never know what ronnie is gonna turn up. would enjoy if he won it ofc.

brecel, zhao were fun winners too. looks to me that a top half winner will likely be a flair player, and a winner from bottom half likely more of a grinder

I'm wondering what's going on with Luca. Haven't seen him rise in recent events, much less enter them. I miss him.

It makes me think Ronnie's performance in his first match will get potential finals attention and that kind of pressure.
I really expect that Ronnie will feel no pressure, his opponent on the other hand. 🤷‍♂️ Underdog can bite.

Well I tried to get Mark Williams match but have been steered to the 2 young Chinese players. Xiao vs Zhou, 🤔 seems Ronnie might have tutoring with both. 🤔
