Fedor’s “new” chalk…

Looks like Taom. And from what i am seeing Toam lease the formula to a few other companies
It's made in China, and I am sure upwards of 20 other companies have their chalk made in the same place (Tuen, Wooldrigdge, Lambros and other stuff aimed at China market mostly etc etc etc)

This is all a conspiracy to make people buy different shapes of chalk holders.
I know this comment is supposed to be funny, but it's actually pretty close to the mark lol

if your opponent doesn't use taom-style chalk, and the banger that played on the table before you didn't use it, you may as well not use it either. the benefits of removing skids (which seems proven) really only work if everyone uses it. until it becomes pool room standard i'll stick to masters..

I would say the majority of skids come from chalk marks on the CB that contact the OB.

So if you and your opponent are both using the new chalks, there should be much fewer skids no matter what all the bangers before you do. Also, even if your opponent isn’t using it, that has no impact on your break and runs and any time you have BIH (assuming you clean the CB whenever you have BIH, as I do).

Masters chalk is free and still works just fine if you chalk up every shot or two.
I don't waste money on all the new gimmicks.
Years ago, when I played golf, I bought I every product that claimed to lower my score so much that if I stayed home, I still shot par.
It’s amazing how chalk has taken off. Yes, chalk every time and they are all basically the same.

The real point of the new chalks is that they are cleaner. Primary benefit being fewer skids/kicks. Secondary benefits are cleaner cloth, hands and cues.

Every thing else is marketing BS, IMO. But I use it for the cleanliness.
Exactly.

It's not "performance enhancing" in any truly tangible way. That being said it's still way worth it. And I'd bet most people that don't play 5 days a week can get a solid year out of ONE cube of pagulayan. It cost me something like 10-15 cents a session, as expenses go, that's a nothing burger.

Here is my Pagulayan after one year of play. I play probably 4 times a week. Well worth it.

Cube shape TAOM chalk is the best thing that’s happened to pool chalk…..period. Oval shape sucks and Fedora’s chalk is just another silly shape that is more of a gimmick than any improvement in chalk. TAOM really blew it by not introducing TAOM in both versions, cube and oval, that would have let them keep 100% of the profit instead of sharing it with Pagulayan since it ‘s the same damn chalk. Any of us using it will tell you it’s as good as V10 without the label.

I posted about Pagulayan chalk long ago and I’m thrilled that it has become so popular because it’s a cube not oval.
There’s no other reason for its popularity since it is TAOM pool chalk but in a cube shape that so many players prefer.

It was an interesting choice by Taom for sure. I would assume it was a conscious decision - that they didn’t want to undermine their round branding of the round chalk by offering a square version. The Pagulayan allows them to capture that market but not directly compete with themselves.

How much are they paying Fedor for advertising the chalk ,it's all about casciola money talks and BS walks. For the average Joe there is absolutely nothing wrong with master chalk don't waste your money.
