A Couple Of Diamond Professional Observations

A couple of things I have noticed about this Diamond Professional table now that I've had it for over three months.

First, balls go in on the break. I am breaking with the 1B on the spot and I am placing the CB just off the rail on the right side about 2-3 inches. The right side facing the rack is what I mean. I consistently make a ball, and alot of times 2-3 balls. The 1B goes into the side pocket and the wing ball into the corner pocket consistently on this table.

Second, the side pockets on this table are very unforgiving. If you are facing this shot on the 3B that I have diagrammed below you better not hit it with any speed. Or else you need to hit it near the center of the pocket. If it hits the facing it is going to pop out.

It's mostly the CS table diagram but that's a duck. If you can hit any rail shot firmly, pool table sides needn't be an issue. You maybe can't freewheel 'em like you do corners - boo hoo... Get used to 'em.
That particular angle, aim for the ball to hit the deep third of the facing. It has to go.

First, balls go in on the break. I am breaking with the 9B on the spot and I am placing the CB just off the rail on the right side about 2-3 inches. The right side facing the rack is what I mean. You might want wider side pockets if that shot is a problem

Yes, contrary to popular belief, balls actually do go in on the break on a pool table. What an astute observation.

I noticed today when I went to drive my car, putting it in D allows it to go forward and putting it in R allowed it to reverse. My mind was blown.

making balls on the break have little to do with the table if a rail is not hit first or the size of the pockets are significantly different.
It's about racking, breaking angle and speed, where exactly you hit the 1ball and the cloth and it's condition and humidity.
The 1ball goes to the side without hitting a rail... so the table doesn't mater. Assuming that you always rack the same and break the same, you might need to adjust in a few months as the cloth gets worn and winter comes.

Pocket size also have little to do with the table brand as you can customize them on installation.

But it great's a great reminder to us all that you got a new Diamond ;)

What's freaky is the back wheels go forward in drive the front wheels go backwards in reverse. WTF?

Seriously if that side shot is tough try a 3 rail kick or bank shot a bumper pool table.

FYI here,
I made an error in my original post. I meant to say I am breaking with the 1B on the spot. NOT the 9B. The error has been corrected.

My bad.

I modified the CS diagram. It's more like what I was talking about now. The original post might have made it seem it was a much easier shot. The angle on the new diagram is much steeper now.

Yeah those side pockets can be unforgiving, but that shot is still not all that difficult in the side. That said I'm sending that ball down to the much more forgiving corner pocket the vast majority of the time.

But are you getting runnable racks? As I recall that's what the dilemma was.

Yes, I am getting more runnable racks. Which, unfortunately, the majority of the time I fail to get out. Although yesterday I did get out four times, including three times in a row.

I haven't played on the Gold Crown IV hardly any the last three months. Maybe I will rack a few on it and see what happens.

Steeper to the aperture but the shot's a straight in. I think players might have a tendency to equate aperture to pocket speed. Translates to habituated sloppiness. I don't buy it.

Correct.
Not the most difficult layouts ever but I did get out three consecutive times.
Now today was a different story. Had 3-4 really good chances to get out and failed every time.
I'm guessing your fargo rating (if you have one) is between 550 and 600
