I've never seen any TD play in a tournament at any level. They are too bust running the show.At what level? In my area, at the amateur level, I'm trying to remember the last time the TD didn't play in the tournament.
This question pertains to a person who runs an 8 ball tournament in a tavern and charges $1.00 per person. The tavern matches the total buy ins ($5.00 each). This person also plays in these tournaments and to me it seems to be a problem. He can win money without it costing him anything out of his pocket. He could show up totally broke and enter the tourny with money from his fees. Seems a bit fishy to me. Am I just being a nit? lol
He’s running the tournament.. taking his time to put together a tournament for you to play In. If you don’t like it run your own tournament. I used to run a poker game in my basement, provided snacks and sodas. I removed $1 out of each ante. I also played in the game.
On the one hand, I'm lessening the total amount of money that is being gambled collectively, especially if the game lasts all night, but on the other hand, I definitely was winner each and every time at the end.
I understand the dilemma from both sides.

I hope the reasoning that hes doing a job works both ways, not only to justify not paying him.Never asked if a TD at Metro Sports, or the Northern Lounge was paid in one place the Owner Ran Tournament,in the other it was employee. Did not care, one place had a Green Fee, the other it wasSplitting Quarters into Bar Box.
I have heard were TD get Tipped by Winner of Tournament. See no reason to TIP TD, as what they did was a job, normal job, nothing special. They did not stop fight, subdue a gunman, or?
Have a friend who recently retired from FireService after 39 years, I asked him if his Department did HERO AWARDS? Answer was no, he replied that is our job. running into Danger, Saving Lives. He was Firefighter of Year once, got a 8-/1/2 x 11 Piece of Paper Stating so, no free Lunch, Special Watch, day Off, just piece of paper.
I tip the server $1 for bringing me a beer. It seems like a $1/person to run the tournament is a great deal.
Yes, your being a nit.
