Two of the upcoming WNT ranking events canceled

Justin Bergman was just on the Boom and Freezer podcast and they discussed the upcoming WNT schedule. Bobby mentioned that the Raxx event had already been cancelled but they were still planning to have the Yale Billiards event at his room in CT. It now sounds like the Yuma event may be up in the air. In the past couple of years, the Battle of the bull in Roanoke, Virgina was a WNT event in August but for whatever reason, is not on the calendar this year. Hopefully they get things sorted because it will certainly cause spectators to use more caution when making plans to attend future events.

Side note, I really enjoyed the podcast with Justin. He comes across as very likable and I'm glad to hear he's planning to play in more events this year with the hope of making the Mosconi team.

I was basing it on the fact that MR has already cancelled two events very close to their dates and the OP's comment in the first post: Scott Frost posted on Facebook earlier today pleading for more signups for the Yuma Open.

It's a 128-player, single-elimination bracket. That's tough action and travel expenses for an event that's essentially in the middle of nowhere.

I think that the McDermott Open was not promoted or controlled by Matchroom. It seems to have been promoted by The Sharkstream:

Someone mentioned that the McDermott Open was $400 entry, with $10k added, 64 player field.

The Empire State Championship was looking for 128 players at $400 with $4k added.

you have to realize, as i said before, there's a BIG difference in a MR 'sanctioned' event and a MR 'run' event. The tourn's 'run' by MR are still on. These other places cancelling is on that promoter/organizer. As to the World Champoinship MR/WPA are looking at various sites to replace Saudi Arabia who pulled out of hosting it. May/may not be one this year.

anyone see a players list for the FL Open yet?

The Classic Billiards event right before it is up:
Being a WNT-run event, I'd expect the player list for scoring to come up on wntlivescores.com. Recently, I don't think those have been listing players until a few days before the start of the tournament.

The next ranking event is the Mezz Bucharest (Romania) Open. It is full at 256 players with a $150 entry. I'm very surprised that the two cancelled events were $400 entries.

Names I recognized on the Mezz list include Filler, Feijen, Labutis, Souquet, Arseni, and the Kacis.
