The original poster’s attempt to participate in the Forum and share meaningful tips to new players may have been well intended or he just could be so impressed with himself he can’t begin to understand why there’s been such a negative reaction to his remarks. I don’t know this guy but here’s my take on this. I originally tried to point out in my prior post that there are many fundamentals to pool and it’s absurd to argue which one or two are the most salient to master.
There are many things a new player must be aware of and learn to master if they have aspirations to become a really good pool player. Having an instructor helps you improve faster and the best results happen when you and the instructor are on the same page. In order words, their presentation style & teaching methods are easy to comprehend and incorporate. How you present information determines how it will be received.
A simple example is if someone acted in a arrogant, abrasive, demeaning, condescending manner expressing their thoughts, chances their opinions will fall on deaf ears or receive mockery. When that same person presents the same information differently, ears & minds open. Well, not intending to be crude, I fear that it is the last resort and we reached that point. Your presentation style sucks.
Your thread starts out announcing that you’ve reached a conclusion of pool, the truth. What a arrogant opening to use , as if everyone else is misinformed or lying but you discovered the truth as if it was some buried secret you unearthed.
Then you further exacerbate this contemptuous opening with challenging others to refute you. WTF, so you wanna have a discussion showing how brilliant your observations are because no one else could be more right than you so you boast “prove me wrong”. Are you writing your post to genuinely help new players or for your over inflated ego which really seems unwarranted based on your behavior and communications skills?
Then you figuratively stand in the pulpit as if your were preaching to a congregation of new parishioners proclaiming….
Beginners….listen to me……as if you were the solitary authority about anything other than your over inflated ego.
Furthermore, you tell them they’ll be more knowledgeable , i.e., smarter for years to come playing or discussing pool with their peers when they’d more get ridiculed like you’ve been experiencing. It sounds like you still have a lot to learn.

If you can’t see your presentation, albeit maybe well intended, was just a flop, you’re a dunce. The first thing to realize
is don’t sound like an authority on something you aren’t qualified to talk about. This is your opinion so state it as such.
The next thing is accept the fact that mastering pool involves a list of things one should strive to control from the outset & only by creating a balance that works for you can progress occur. There aren’t a couple of things to concentrate on.
Use this thread as a learning experience and remember that there is a wealth of expertise on this Forum so exercise more humility so you aren’t public ally spanked in the future. Fair warning, it only gets worse if you fail to change your approach.
