Thanks for sharing. Do you know why they're playing American pool? I would have assumed American pool tournaments would have been a rare breed these days.

It's really interesting seeing the Chinese specialists try non-Chinese pool. From the few minutes I watched, they're way worse than you would expect. Dai Yong was surprisingly bad and seemed like he didn't have much experience on these tables.

There are some American events around, and I would describe this like a version of the China Open format on a slightly easier table, and I guess what they are wanting is a few people to feel good enough to stick their name in the hat for that event. I think they want to make a small tour out of this style of play, given how hard it is to get MR to consider the country for a major event (when their eyes are locked on the Viet, Indo and rejuvenating/re-inventing the US market)

I think they are so used to playing on "tougher" equipment, that they have overlooked the challenges that are present on this equipment. Fast cloth, big pockets. It should be that old-style of aggressive position play that people on this forum sometimes shed a tear over. I think they're so used to having the ball on the string, they aren't sure what to do when they let it off (for want of a better analogy).

Think Garczar is right about the cloth. Seems to be popular for any American table I see here that isn't a Rasson (which gets dressed in CPBA)
