My unasked for opinion on Taom V10 Chalk

After seeing Dr Daves chalk videos and then seeing Appleton's gripe about master chalk, I decided to do a test for myself.

I was shocked to see how much residue Master Chalk left on the cue ball.

Did a few racks with master and a few racks with the V10 (I found a piece at the hall).

Taom left the cue ball virtually spotless.

I'm certainly no world beater at the table so I don't have delusions of Taom improving my game, but cleaner is better objectively.
 
chalk properly/mildly, and you wont have dirty problems.

masters is cheap or free and so some grind it into the tip.
when they get a 20 dollar piece of chalk they treat it like its their last dollar.

thats the real difference.

Yeah, I personally never had a performance problem with Masters. I chalk before most shots as part of my pre-shot routine. The cleanliness is the reason I use Taom. And not just that the cue ball stays cleaner, though that is certainly important, but it just keeps my hands and my glove cleaner as well and I like that. It's totally worth the $30 every 9 months or so for a new piece.
 
My home table is way cleaner using the V10 (and the Pagulayan chalk for that matter) than it used to be when using Masters. I still bring Masters to use when I play out in the world as I prefer to donate Masters to the table when I forget to grab it when I leave.

I dunno. I don't think I over chalk, but you may be right for me.

I am, however, sure that Dr Dave took that into account with his testing

I think I'm the opposite. Taom doesn't cover the tip nearly as well as Master's, imo. I brush it on a lot more to ensure full coverage.

I've always chalked my cue the same and I'd go thru a block of Master or later the Predator 1080 (also junk) every couple weeks. A block of Pure lasts me 8-9 months. I only grab a new one when I start dropping it out if I lose it (feed it to a ProAm...).
 
It's not Masters, but I used OB chalk for many years, and Blue Diamond for years before that. In both cases, I had to wipe down my carbon fiber cues one every 2-4 weeks.

When I switched to V10, that turned into 2-4 months, with no other changes, e.g. to my play frequency or to my chalking technique. In my experience, V10 is clearly cleaner.

I wonder how they do it? Maybe the chalk particles are smaller? Wonder whether I should be worried about breathing in airborne particles... 🤷‍♂️
 
How did we survive before V-10, Super Chalk?

IMHO Just fine, we had Master, Triangle, & Silver Cup.

Chalk on Cloth was cleaned with Brush & Rail Brush, in a few minutes, Old School.

Willie Mosconia ran a record number of Ball in 14/1, he did it without V-10. OMG..... :ROFLMAO:
