They don't play many of the big tournaments but I am surprised there isn't more talk about Lazaro and Gabriel Martinez. Gabriel beat Lee Van Corteza 9-6 in the first round of the Texas Open last night. They are both in the 740s as teenagers.

Just a little update on Lukas Fracasso-Verner. Turning Stone XLII started 2 days ago and ends tomorrow. This is Lukas' first event since the accident. He won his first 3 matches, lost his 4th to Tom Cayer, and then won his first match on the losers' side just a little while ago. That most recent match was on the streaming table. Lukas looked pretty good. He did miss several shots and fouled on a couple kicks. And apparently he can't break as forcefully as he used to, and may have to use the bridge more to reach shots. But it is really good to see him back and playing decently. I think the event is now down to the last 16 players. If Lukas wins the event, maybe a way will be found for him to play in the Mosconi Cup.
where is he injured?
I don't know.
After the head-on collision sitting shotgun, it is my understanding he suffered severe injuries, including breaking multiple bones in his right leg, and required emergency surgery after being medivac'd to a hospital. He spent days in recovery before waking up and stabilizing. He is at the Turning Stone Joss NE 9-Ball Championship this week.

USA has a few bright spots this year when it comes to Mosconi Cup possibilities. Throwing out the flawed WNT ranking system based on money payouts, my picks would be Shane, Captain Johan-trained Tyler Styer, Fedor, and Billy Thorpe.
Billy brings something this team desperately needs: cohesion and spirit. And that matters in the Mosconi Cup. In particular, Fedor and Billy are buddies both on and off the table, and I think that chemistry could be huge. Billy is the American version of Jayson Shaw, only without Jayson’s spirited barbs.
If these four are on the team, and Johan can get them playing as a team rather than four individual players, I like USA’s chances a whole lot better. Let’s go, USA!
