he was a good player sunny. unorthodox style, with that bridge hand kind of dictating his line up, and using the rest in all sort of different ways. defo an oddball, but interesting

tbh I've always wondered that myself. Just grew up hearing the word without knowing where it came from. Possibly the other response about the Latin term for to fix is correct.

As I’m sure you know, his cue for those 7 world championships was a cheap cue. I think he said it was a bit warped and he could deal with an up and down warp but not a side to side. So I wonder if he held the cue that way so the warp would be up and down?

That cue, was brought from a sports shop, and was displayed in the window. The butt then warped from sun light, years before he got it, I doubt he cared at that young age 12 or 13 i think he was. It was maple shaft too. So that likely wasn't too straight. That was the one he wanted, non of that seemed to bother him. I think in 2003 it was smashed up at a airport he received it back in bits. Buy that point, it had major alterations by john parris.

He was never the same after that.
