Tip replacement question

So looking at a break cue that has an all in one solid tip/ferrule. Can just the head of that be shaved off and install a new tip on?

You would need a lathe to cut the tip square, but, yes.

What I did was to cut the tip but left a part of it as a pad and then installed the new tip.
Don’t even need a lathe for that

With a tip/ ferrule combo, just shave it flat

Got the lathe, been putting tips on for months, just didn't do one of those tips before. I think I'll be good. Thanks.
