Some prefer a real strong connection. Just the chalk and clip is only half the strength as 2 magnets.
With the right magnet, a thin piece of metal sticks perfectly. I make these for about $2 each.
Over time, you can rip the metal loose, I've found a piece of tape over it makes it last a lot longer.

I wonder if that’s new. The piece of Ghost that I have doesn’t have that. I did just glue a coin on the bottom and it works fine.

What is the metal strip you are using?

Just some common metal banding. Used to secure lumber, etc. A friend that works at a place that used a lot of it just gives it to me.
If you want better adhesion to a magnet, just find something a little thicker. I find that the banding is just right, sticks well, but comes away without a struggle and isn't easy to knock off. I keep it at my waistband, just behind my hip.

I don’t know about the US. In Canada, our nickels, dimes and quarters are all magnetic.

How's that work for the vending machine business?
So far as I know it works fine. Most vending machines now are probably mostly using credit cards or paper money, but when I was younger we had lots of vending machines all using coins.
I imagine they've thought it through. Still, kids... rare earth magnets... :lightbulb: ...
