The Rec Room, Wausau Wi.
Friends of ours just opened a really nice pool and darts room. The inside is so nice, my quick snapshot doesn't do it justice.
six 7' Diamonds and two 9' diamonds.
Tournaments every weekend.
Friday 9 ball, Saturday 10 ball, Sunday 8 ball.
Walking in you say to yourself, this is what a pool place should be.
Reasonable priced drinks, I had a few craft taps at $4 a pint and simple food menu. Open 6 days a week. They had a thriving bar business years back with 3 tables but rented and ended up getting out of that.
Pool it thriving by me with this new place and two other halls with 8 tables ea plus your normal bar scene.
I'm pretty sure this new place will do well, they have the experience and a big following.
Also I noticed groups of people/couples using the tables, not real pool players, just for a fun time out and something to do.
9' tables, who would have thought that would happen in our area. The one other hall I play league at has one but that's it for 75 miles or more that I know of.
Anyway, who says you can't make money at pool, well pool and darts that is. Great place,can't wait to go back.

Ha Ha, that's the closest of the three about 26 miles, the others 33 mi and 38 mi ish. There is a cost to living away from the city, but so worth it.
There is zero glare to these lights, they are the best I have ever seen. Absolutely no spilling of light around the room.

I like over the table lighting.

I hate ceiling lighting.

Pool is supposed to be played in a dark setting.

Why?

Because I said so. :)

When I grew up, pool halls were dark and recreation centers were well lit.

Pool halls had beer, gambling, unsavory characters, etc.

Recreation centers had Dr. Peppers, no gambling, and unsupervised kids getting Cheeto dust on the tables.

I like pool halls.

I like the room itself to be dark but not the table itself
 
looks nice and spacious.
In my neck of the woods they cram more tables to a point that it's not fun at all at some clubs. but places are big and they have many tables so even on busy weekend nights you can get a table easily.
No 7ft, tho only 9ft pool and a mixture of 9ft, 10ft and (some places) 12ft snooker tables.

Most bars do not have pool tables, very rare to find one.

I stay away from those 20ft tables. :)

You would love it here, this is what a pool hall should be. Could be a little bigger, but it was a building that was available with decent parking, and the owners having past experience and both being real pool players knew what they wanted in their remodeling to make it one of the nicest places in over a hundred mile radius. Great place to hang out and have fun even if it's a date night for those not real pool players. Keep in mind it's only been open a week and things are just getting started. There was a lot more people in there in that facebook video clip.
Some of you on here are just complainers, nothing but negative from some, I prefer to try and take the positive angle.
