PBS Women's 9 Ball World Championship

OMG, no rest for the weary.

Of course, burnout issues aside, this kind of scheduling is exactly what the players need to manage their expenses. First, the five-week American swing on WNT, 1) Vice City, 2) Florida Open, 3) Arizona Open, 4) Phoenix Open, 5) US Open 9ball. Now, the Asian swing: 1) China Open 9ball, 2) World 10ball, 3) Indonesia 10 ball, 4) Reyes Cup. In November and December, there will be another American swing: 1) Predator San Antonio, 2) Mosconi Cup, and 3) Predator Jacksonville.

Progress has been a little slow in coming. Here on the forum, we've often taken note of how the fast-growing number of events on the world pool calendar has made the old methods of WPA schedule management a bit outdated. This is not a knock on WPA, who do the best they can in this area, but a realization that the burden of making schedules that are practical is falling more and more on the event producers.

That said, I'll celebrate how much progress is being made in the scheduling of events. Event producers are definitely doing a better job in putting together tournament schedules that are player friendly. More of the same, please. We're not yet where we need to be, but things are trending in the right direction.

how does that happen? all four are seeded, surely? maybe not siming

also chezka vs zhang is a bit tough. feels like this wouldn't happen in a men's tournament. an oversight probably
Actually, it is a problem in men's pool, too, as WPA rankings are often unreflective of who the best players are.

For example, in the current WPA rankings, #26 Casper Matikainen is ranked higher than each of Vogel, Shaw, Alcaide, SVB, Chua and Neuhausen. All of these but Shaw have won a major title this year.

This is due to highly varied levels of participation by players in WPA sanctioned events.

sure, but this must be more of a mistake? tkach is a recent champion and shasha liu recently won the china open. don't see how they couldn't be within top 32.

Kristina won a minor WPBA event, not a WPA sanctioned major. Nonetheless, I agree 100% that these pairings don't make a lot of sense.

Our sport really needs a unified ranking system in both men's and women's pool but, in view of the fact that the rankings were one of the biggest areas of dispute between Matchroom and WPA in 2025, it's hard to imagine it happening anytime soon.
