Pool in the News - Calvin Lawton still going stong at 73

Great read. Thanks for pulling up this old thread about Calvin. I read his nickname was "Rushout Red," and I found this photo.

💙 Tonight, We Lost a Legend — Calvin Lawton 💙

9/29 will be a day we never forget.

Tonight, our hearts are incredibly heavy as we say goodbye to a true legend — Calvin Lawton.

Calvin never knew a stranger. Whether he met you across a pool table, sitting at the bar, walking through a grocery store, or somewhere along the way in his 94 years of life, chances are you walked away with a story, a laugh, and a new friend.

Tonight, there is a huge hole in the hearts of everyone who loved him. But somehow, that space will always be filled with Calvin — with the memories, the stories, and that unmistakable laugh we know we’ll hear when we least expect it.

And maybe one day the jukebox will start playing at just the right moment, and we’ll know that Billy finally “played da music.”

Our dearest Calvin, you blessed every one of us simply by allowing us to be part of your life. You weren’t just our friend — you were family.

Through the pool lessons, the stories, your beautiful artwork, your ornery sense of humor, and all the moments when you were simply being you, you gave us something priceless: the gift of knowing Calvin Lawton.

We know you were greeted with open arms tonight. And we have no doubt that your beautiful wife was right there at the front, waiting for you, along with so many others who have been patiently waiting to see you walk through those pearly gates.

What a reunion that must have been. 💙

Rest easy, Calvin. Your chair may be empty and the pool room may feel a little quieter, but your presence will never leave us. Your stories will continue to be told. Your lessons will continue to be passed down. Your laugh will continue to echo in our memories.

And every once in a while, when someone makes the perfect shot, draws that cue ball just right, or the perfect song starts playing, we’ll smile and think of you.

We will let everyone know the arrangements for Calvin’s services as soon as they are available.

Until then, our dear friend…

Keep shooting for the stars.
Practice your best.
Draw the ball.
And for heaven’s sake… PLAY THE DAMN MUSIC! 🎱💙🎶

Rest peacefully, Calvin Lawton.

You were one of a kind, and you will never be forgotten.

With all our love,
Your Breaker’s Family 💙
