I hesitate to call it the best when low percentages are stacked together. So what would you call your strangest or most improbable runout?
Tonight I had a steep angle break shot with the break ball about a ball off the short rail. High inside to try and break off the bottom corner and push stack toward the opposite side up table while cue ball comes off long rail below side pocket.
I hit it so badly that the cue ball jumped off the short rail and completely over the rack, scorching along the length of the table and back to the stack. It broke off the opposite corner ball and ended up straight in a half ball off the rail.
Rail first for angle and the rack spreads up table, bit too much left or top had me welded to the stack underneath.
Eehh? Maybe I should just rerack? Eff it! Kick into the high side of the ball I’m stuck on and call the lowest (3rd) ball in the bottom corner. Dang thang! Looked like it came from the factory that way.
Hanging out by the bottom corner and there’s lot’s of balls blocking each other up-table. Shoot, already made two low percentage shots just play another combo to the side. Prolly 60% shot looked just like a hanger.
Three more balls in rack area. Two are froze dead towards short rail pocket point, just need to come in on right side to throw lead ball into the width of the pocket. Lazy play lead to a good line, but poor speed control and I snuggled right up on the combo spreading out the dead balls and ruining the look.
Played a ball back up table. Set back up on the balls in the rack. Played the combo with the third ball in the rack to the opposite corner and left original ball half diamond from pocket with perfect angle to come up table and clean up.
Good break ball with inside to come off perpendicular on bottom side of rack. Stayed below rack with easy position to come off long rail to just below center table; beat it right into the pocket point like a jack’em off jack hole.
So jumped the rack, rail first trash, kick combo plus two more to stack several low % shots. Follow up with a great spread and missing a 95% shot.
Usually, I like to enjoy the moment and move on, but I’ve been really trying to focus on playing tighter with short area precision and higher percentages lately. This just flew into the face of everything I’ve been trying to work on and it was a joyful experience. I wanted to remember it.
I would invite you to share an improbable rack or run you’d like to remember here. Party on!
