McDermott GS Cues -- Where's the Love?

Their designs seem more 2000s/2010s-ish than explicitly traditional like Joss. Few of their cues even have veneers.
Yes.. just not what the current trend is but again to the people that like them imo other then the terrible lucky brand they sell cheap lol McDermott cues are a solid choice.

Though, it's hard to say what constitutes a modern looking cue since every company is doing its own thing.

Besides the most obvious stuff like the simple, highlighter colored Predator cues but that is not a positive.

As much as I like predator cues 99% of what they make isn’t for me. I like the old road line series. The sp2 and p3. The rest they can keep

Since we're talking about the look of McDermotts, here's one Jim made for me mid-80s.

Joss "Limited Series" cues are still available at $267.

They are built on the same threaded step core construction as all other Joss.

Conversely My Lucky L4 with a Triangle Tip has become my break cue of choice. Nice wide shaft, medium firm tip. Nice looking and performing. Perfect compliment for my G333!

Modern younger players just aren't going to buy this style of cue. They want hi-tech/lo defl cues, hey i like this old school type cue but the days of these being big sellers are fading fast, just like me. ;)

True.

At the local pool hall I noticed amateur league players. Almost all of them had cheap CF cues from Amazon.

Even the best player I know around here is playing with a CF shaft.

To be a connoisseur of the old stuff is to be an aficionado of the art of cue making. That is dying out, just like muscle cars and old Harleys.

I am still holding out. I don't own a single "modern" cue. Wood is still king for me.

But I am also past the giving a shit stage of life. LOL!

Anecdotal, but my team is :

Me : you guy with Viking wood shaft

The rest are: young guy with Cuetec Avid, young guy with Meucci wood shaft, young guy with Rhino carbon , older guy with wood, middle aged guy with carbon

1 older guy and 1 younger guy with no cue, they borrow mine.

So CF is very popular of course but even among younger people it's far from ubiquitous. And among Meucci fans, the wood shaft is far more popular than their carbon (unlike Predator).

Yes, well Meucci fans have always been "special". 😉 LOL!

Get em while they cheap and available on amazon. In 20 years you’ll collect them and pay triple on ebay for used cues
