Of these 3 CF shafts, which do you have or would purchase?

I've been doing research on CF shafts, (currently using Pred Cat and Pre-Cat shafts for years), and have narrowed it down to these three;
J. Flowers SMO, wood/CF combo and 100% CF
Cuetec Cynergy
Jacoby V5
I've used wood for 50 years and want something that has a warmer wood feel and not thin/hollow/tinky feel to it. Whatever I get I'm thinking of trying a Zan medium tip on it. I've used Kamui black/clear super softs for years.
I'd be interested in anyone's opinion that have used these shafts.

Thanks.

I’ve hit with the Cynergy and the Jacoby V4.
I prefer the Mezz Ignite, great feel and less squirt than the V4.
Lots of good CF options out there, though I’m currently playing with a Hsunami 1.0.

I use a Cuetec Cynergy, and I have since they came out. I am very happy with them. I have seen and heard good things about the SMO. I have not used the SMO, but I believe that is has lower deflection than the Cynergy. For me, coming from wood after many years, I thought the Cynergy would be an easier transition. Others may prefer a lower deflection option.

Also, I use the sniper tip that comes on the Cynergy. For me, I think it hits perfect.

I have Jacoby v5 now as my player, had v4 before that and Revo prior to that.

The Jacoby shafts have the feel and sound you're looking for I think. It's softer than a Revo, in a good way, and I much prefer both the sound and feel. They do have a bit more deflection but the v5 is closer than the v4 was and really not too far off from a Revo. I find the tradeoff worth it for the better sound and feel.

One odd thing with them though is many are built to .847" joint diameter, which is what Jacoby uses. So if you have a cue with a Radial pin and a standard .840" joint diameter it's going to be a little bit oversized. This doesn't apply to all pins though, the Uniloc for example comes in .841", so it depends on if it's one of the Jacoby standard pin offerings or not. I use a Jacoby cue with a radial pin so it's a perfect fit for me, but might not be on another radial pin butt. Thankfully they list the joint diameter for their various pin options on their website.

I've hit with the Cynergy a good while back and I remember liking it a lot and thinking it was a solid shaft option, but it's been too long to offer any more detailed insights.

Never tried the J Flowers.

I have the SMO (carbon) and the Cynergy, both are 12.5mm, I prefer the SMO, it produces less cue ball deflection.
Haven’t tried the Jacoby.
What about the Revo?

I have The SMO, Cenergy, Revo, Jacoby V3. The Revo and SMO are close but I like a 12.9MM shaft so I use the Revo most of the time. The largest size for SMO is 12.5MM.

FWIW I should have mentioned I would be using it on a Schon cue and prefer a 12.4-ish tip dia.

Hard to beat the 12.2 ignite. Pairs nicely with Schon. Mezz also makes a 12.6.
From your playing history the Predator Centro seems like the logical next step, easier transition in my opinion.

Sort of off topic but have you considered Kielwood??

Revo is the deadest feeling shaft of those three, so the one that's the least like wood imo.
Not terribly impressed with your two other choices either, but as with anything, if you have a chance to test a few before making a decsion, that would make it much easier than to just go by what the producers say on their website.

I don’t understand this fascination about carbon feeling like wood.
Carbon should feel like carbon and gives the best performance possible.
I have a Revo 12.9mm, doesn’t feel dead to me. I’ve only had a few shots with the Revo 12.4mm, don’t remember it feeling dead either.
Maybe I don’t understand what dead feeling is…. Maybe players should stop using soft tips, that’s the only thing that feels dead to me.

I’ll take the Revo over the Cynergy any day.
Between the Revo and the SMO, I would leave it to taper preference.

In my opinion, most CF options are just cheap alternatives to the Revo.
I have a Revo, SMO, Cynergy, Rhino and Nova to base my opinions on.

How dare you speak of soft tips being dead! 😆 imo, I would think that the so-called dead feeling that some are saying about cf shafts is it feels unnatural if you have been accustomed with wood shafts for a very long time. For me, it's not dead but I find the feeling weird or different at first. I'm using the kielwood and hybrid shafts as of the moment.

CF shafts transfer more energy to the CB and less back to the cue and to the arm, it’s not dead, it just feels different.
Soft tips absorb that energy as well reducing the energy that goes back to the arm making it feel even more dead.
Put a hard tip on s CF shaft and see how lively it is.

I know what you mean and meant it as a joke. But then, how dare you, Ser !

Generally Predator products are quite dead, they always remove as much material as possible. I think your playing style and prefrences matter a lot.
I feel that shafts with little feedback (dead feeling) makes 14.1 really frustrating as there are so many soft shots and generally the play is more finesse than power. If you play mainly 9/10 ball where there's more CB action, it generally makes less of a difference.

Jayson Shaw run 832 balls playing 14.1 with a CF shaft.
Have you watched the European Pool Championships in the last few years?
They are actually playing 14.1 at this as one of the championship disciplines, have you seen how many players used CF shaft?

Sorry, all this CF is dead nonsense and that wood is better for finesse shots is BS, just an excuse why one is playing badly, just like why Americans sucks at the Mosconi….

CF is NOT dead, one just needs to give it enough time to learn it, learn its nuances and feedback and get used to it.
Many go for soft tips to try and control the power of the shaft and then they complain that the shaft is dead, put a hard tip and let it dance in your hand.

There are quite a few makers that claim that their CF shaft feels like wood but at the same time it produces more deflection, why pass down on one of CF major benefits just to cut down the learning curve?
