Even though I was using this: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=52636, I didn't win. But it was me, not the stick! eric

What do you pay for pool?

When I owned Shooters in Greensboro, NC (sold it in November), we were charging $3.50/hr/person for all tables (7' & 9'). At one point early on we charged $4/hr/person and $5/hr/person for certain tables. Then we had $1 Tuesdays. $1/hr/person pool, $1 hot dogs, $1 draft beer. We also had...

I Played Mike Davis Last Night...

That'd be nice. I had some decent scores when I owned Shooters. Had bigger losses though. A chance to play a Pro some cheap sets. How often does that come around? The daughter of the guy I bought it from. Danielle Edwards Baxley and her hubby Terry.

I Played Mike Davis Last Night...

You were there last night? I got there about 8:15. Mike at 8:30, and we were playing by 8:45. Tonya was trashed. That's how I ended up having Patron too. :(

I Played Mike Davis Last Night...

Oh yeah, it was a blast. His friend said I had the best of the game, but I'm not sure I agree (tho I would try it again). Mike was saying that since the safety game was taken away, he could feel the pressure to get out, even for 50 bucks. As far as the SHOTS go, last night was a slow night...

I Played Mike Davis Last Night...

...and had the most fun I've ever had playing pool! What a great guy. He's in the area visiting a good friend of his. I know his friend too, and he called looking for somebody else's number. That guy was unavailable, so long story short, Mike and I ended up playing. We met at Breakers off...

    Dear Crawfish

I've always wondered how a bald guy can be successful selling rugs. Oh wait, different kinda rug. My bad. I'm hoping he'll see this, woof at me a little bit, offer up the wild 7 & the snaps, and then I'll drive to Raleigh. eric

No, but even money says Jay does. Ya know, since he was there when the tomb was sealed.

    Amazing Jay Fact

This proves my (previously secret) theory that Mr. Jay Helfert doesn't actually know anyone and that he makes up all these vivid, detailed, factually accurate stories about pool players from yesteryear. I think he's a 15yr old kid that lives in his mom's basement, but with a surprisingly good...

Do you like having an audience?

Good point Cameron. I'm not a big fan of onlookers while I'm working alone. When I do go out to practice (hardly ever nowadays), I try to get to the room as early as possible to minimize the number of eyes. eric

Do you like having an audience?

A friend and I were talking last night about phobias, and we both agreed that we're afraid of people, but on opposite sides of the fence. I hate dealing with individuals, but groups don't bother me. I'd much rather give a (well-prepared) presentation to a large audience than I would make...

NC Smoking Ban - So Far So Good

Yes, they do. I think they had one back in mid-late October. Tony Morrison knocked it off, I believe (I wasn't there). Next time I'm headed to Raleigh I'll make sure to let you know. I do go out there on occasion to visit a buddy and play pool at NYB & Snookers. eric

NC Smoking Ban - So Far So Good

Pack/day since I was an early teenager. :( Jakes, on Spring Garden St. Not the best spot to play serious pool, but the people, food, and drinks are great. Hell, I hung out there while I owned Shooters too. Happy New Year, Lou! eric

NC Smoking Ban - So Far So Good

Right. Which he doesn't. a) The club isn't operated by the members. I've never seen GCB's financials, have you? b) GCB also isn't a non-profit. I dunno if GCB makes a profit or not, but I know the goal is to! And I seriously doubt he's re-incorported under G.S. C55A to be a non-profit...

NC Smoking Ban - So Far So Good

It won't fly, Tim. Don may think it'll work, but it won't. The no-smoking statute clearly defines what it considers a "private club", and it's *not* the same as GCB (or Shooters or Breakers or Lucky 7s or Jakes or ...). All these places are "private clubs" only by the ABC definition. The...

NC Smoking Ban - So Far So Good

The first few weeks of January are always difficult for bars/poolrooms. Everyone makes resolutions that they're going to diet, quit drinking, quit gambling, save money, etc. So they stay home. Eventually, the lure of sin overcomes their will power and they come back out into public. I sold...
