    Wichita/Club Billiards

I agree with all said above. I live in the Wichita area and play at Club Billiards at least once a week (usually more). Tiny Weber also supports local leagues and there is now a resident cue maker (Cody Cash) who has his shop in the back. Tiny is a genuinely nice guy who does all he can to...

Visit to Scott Frost's "Freezer's Ice House"

It is a nice place - I've been there a couple of times on visits to the area. It's changed names to Freezer's Sports Bar & Grill. It's in Tempe not Phoenix on the Southeast corner of Broadway and Mill. I used to live about 2 miles from there - I think it was a Walgreens then!

    Bar pool ball in hand

PT109 - Which way is North on that map? Asking for a friend! In a couple of places I've been over the years, the 8 ball rules were posted on a large 2' x 4' poster in plain sight. The owner's way of reducing arguments and saving furniture I guess.

    Posting more,playing less

Hop on the freeway and head to Tempe or Phoenix to a pool hall and play league or tournaments. Freezers in Tempe or Bullshooters in Phoenix for example.

    Pool cue as hand luggage

One of the problems is the TSA folks are not consistent in how they interpret the rules. In an earlier thread, a member stated he was able to carry on his cues on a trip to Vegas, but he had to check them for the trip home - same airline. It's obvious the FAA, TSA, or the Airports could care...

    Stolen league money

Regardless of the circumstances, the league manager (who was entrusted with the funds) should make it good and proceed with the league end of session payouts. If he/she decided to keep league monies at home (for any period of time) then they are responsible. They are also responsible for not...

    How much does it cost?

If I were doing it I would, for starters: Start close to home - saves on motel and other costs. Have a reliable vehicle that gets good mileage. Travel with others - saves $ and gives you a little security. $100/night is about the cheapest motel you'll find anytime. Research places and your...

If you do well enough, hot dog eating is like a paid suicide attempt you get to try every year.

Is there a safe way to trade cues?

With all the horror stories about cue sales and cue shipping problems people post here; I doubt I'd consider anything except an "in person" transaction. It's just not worth it. If you're too far to travel to the other party; perhaps meeting half way would work. Pictures of cues leave a lot to...

    Opponents with headphones

I've seen some tournaments around here ban headphones while players are at the table. I haven't seen it addressed on the local league level yet. I was playing a guy in a tournament a couple of years ago who had his headphones on. After having to get his attention a couple of times I started...

Does the cost of playing cue impact your game?

After the cost of a basic cue (a couple hundred or so) the rest is for artwork or brand cost and won't really affect play - other than the psychological effect! Some cues do appreciate in value - so there could be investment advantages though. This kinda goes back to the old argument - is it...

    JB Cases

I've had a JB ultimate rugged 4x6 case for a few years now. Not fancy, but it has held up well.

    Camera ideas

You may also want to look into density and file size for a given length of recording. Some devices (like my I-phone 6s) create a large file after a short 30sec recording. It was large enough that I couldn't send it in an email. I didn't try to resize and I don't remember having this issue before...

The end of pool on TV?

I saw that cornhole championship in the schedule too. Turns out to be a fancy version of a bean bag toss that was popular at kids birthday parties. Who knew! At least it wasn't a bad prison movie! I guess most pool is on-line these days.

    Older Schon info request

There is a Schon collectors group on FB that you might try; or look for an archive on the schon site or contact them with those pics and see if they can help.

Took my son Jin to his first SBE

Thanks for posting this. It's impressive for ones so young to keep interest in something. Often kids are all excited about something only to find out a short time later they are on to something else. Kudos to you and your future champions.

    Pool Cue at Airports

One problem is that baggage check - carry on experiences differ depending on the airport and even the airline. There have been threads about this before. One guy was able to carry his cue on for a flight to Vegas but wasn't allowed to carry it on for his flight home - same airline. Calling the...

    Collectible Chalk

Bob - I suppose the hammer chalk in the bottom row is for break cues!

Best shipping advice, let me know if you have a better idea, Thanks.

Just a caution here - if you use the end caps - a section of PVC with end caps installed looks like a pipe bomb if your package is x-rayed. Don't ask me how I know this!

    ...

I've had an ultimate rugged 4x6 case for about 3 years now. Although it was an off the shelf buy and not custom - it has held up well and I'm not easy on stuff! It shows very little wear and all the zips work like new. The interior has held up well too, JB would be my choice if I decide to get...
