    Forward weighted cue.

I had bought a joint weight because I have two vintage Adam cues: one with a plastic joint, the other metal. The balance point on the one with the plastic joint is 1.75” back from that of the metal joint. I tried the weight to see if I could get the balance points closer together between the...

    Forward weighted cue.

Purpose-built joint weights are available if you want to experiment See link below. The link is for 0.35 oz weight. I have one @ 0.5 oz (14g). EDIT: I don’t know why the link renders as “Robot or human” but it is a link to a product offered by Walmart. @Fitzz47, if you want it I will send you...

    Did I just witness History?

My fave Mario story is an interview when he described his first drive in a ground-effects car. He was testing, slowly adding speed. He said he got surprised when a high-speed turn had been rained on since his last lap. He said he turned in at previous speed, fully expecting to go off track...

Get off my lawn, Things I hate in pool today

Masters or other “dirty” chalk Sandbaggers Nights when I can’t make a six-foot stop shot Hip hop or rap on the jukebox Having to explain to lower level teammates *every single time* during a time out to place ball-in-hand at a slight angle to get to the next shot Beating myself - I don’t...

    Fight or flight

This is excellent. I was going to respond similarly a few things might help: 1) During practice, develop a cadence (stolen from "Pleasure of Small Motions"). You might count; you might sing in your head a few notes of a song; anything you can think of to take your mind off failing, while also...

How many still have the first cue they ever bought?

I have all the cues I have ever bought with the exception of a used Meucci and a used Huebler. I didn't like the Meucci (the shaft was warped a little), and I hated the "ping" from the Huebler along with its pro taper. I sold them both for break-even. I still have my first cue, a no-name...

    Right Handed vs Left Handed

He's daft. Aside from ability to reach a particular shot, there is no difference in how a CB reacts between a righty and a lefty. The shot you diagrammed is actually easier to cut in because it's easier to reach for a lefty.

Using a "Touch" of outside on cut shots

I am a lowly player trying to improve. I suppose right now I'm shooting at a high 400's FR (480 or so) even though my official rating is 425 (it's been months since I've played in a league that reports to Fargo, and I have improved a ton since late summer last year). So take my comments for...

    DigiBall Passaround Reviews

I am extremely interested in this product pending knowing its anticipated price. I really hate to bring it up but I will just to satisfy my curiosity and allay any skepticism I or anyone else may have: how did you quality test the ball to ensure that the displayed contact point is in fact the...

How Important Is it to Own/Use a Break Cue

I did the same and I did side-by-side comparison between my 18.5 oz break cue with a hard leather tip and my (new to me) 25 oz break/jump cue with phenolic tip. Using Predator Break Speed app I gained 1.0-1.3 MPH on my breaks.

Pool cue components or styles that you are not a fan of.

We specified Bocote mostly because it’s fairly heavy and I wanted a 19.5oz cue with a light 3.4oz CF shaft. I like dark blue with red accents on cars, so I specified those color inlays. Ed Petersen paired that with Purple Heart. I know it’s not everyone’s taste but I love it.

    Worth it?

You will never unsee that ding and it would probably bother you forever. Is it near where the grip hand is; can you also feel it? Can it be repaired to like new? If not, I personally would pass.

    TAOM V10 BLUE

I have been using V10 for well over a year (the same piece.) A few months ago I acquired a break cue with a phenolic tip. I found V10 doesn’t stick well to it, and at break speeds I miscued easily. I use Masters on my break cue as a result. Anyone have a similar experience with a phenolic...

Measle ball is a training ball

P.S. we should start an NPR thread (assuming there isn’t one already) on Fine Wnes. I bet many here have discerning palates and experience and can recommend gems at various price points. Ditto for automobiles: classics, muscle cars, exotics, sports cars, etc.

Measle ball is a training ball

Very cheap: believe it or not, Bogle. Drinkable, doesn’t suck. Great for getting drunk on pizza night. Moderately priced: Acrobat. Classic Pinot, light and fruity. If you like your Noirs thusly. Pricey: St. Innocent, Oregon. Pricey but not lily-livered, bolder than you would expect for a...
