    Live ball spin feedback

That's so cool! I also agree that exact contact point is much easier to understand and look nicer. Probably the colored circle with various radius along side with rpm shown next to each other is better. I look forward to it!

Predator WPA World 8 Ball Championship 2023 (17-22 Oct 2023), Austria, Winner $75K

Do they need to break from the side? I don't see this in the rule, but everyone seems to break from the side instead of in the middle.

    Predator Pure chalk

Is there a reason that you test the chalk using only bottom spin instead of sidespin? Just curious. It'd be nice to see how well the chalk persists on both sidespin and draw shots.

Little Ko has a stroke slip

Ko Pin Yi made a video about this technique a long time ago, I find it really interesting

Could you let me know the source of this information? Did predator say that on their website or somewhere? Thanks

I managed to track cue ball path! OpenCV

actually there are patterns, and Dr.Dave talked about it before

I managed to track cue ball path! OpenCV

Sorry I don't quite understand your question. But path drawing has nothing to do with high-speed photography.

I managed to track cue ball path! OpenCV

Actually I think a 1080p web cam might be enough? The low res might even help smooth out the dots on the ball, making it more homogeneous and thus easier to track. I'll have to try this. I'll let you know.

I managed to track cue ball path! OpenCV

Should be doable, right? Since we know the framerate of the video and the dimensions of the table. I haven't given it much of a thought yet.

I managed to track cue ball path! OpenCV

Should be possible. Although I need to figure out how to erase the path when the cue ball stops moving and then draw a new one when the player plays the next shot.

I managed to track cue ball path! OpenCV

You are right, for stripes it's much trickier. I don't yet know how to do it with stripes. I heard that you need to do it with ML. On the other hand, now the most popular game is 9-ball, I get away with it haha

I managed to track cue ball path! OpenCV

Hi all, 6months ago I posted a question about tracking the billiard ball using software, like the one they do on kozoom Before I tried to achieve this by using optical flow method in OpenCV, but this is not robust and I need a bright reflection on the surface of the ball, which is not there...

Is Kielwood Shaft relly low deflection?

I guess so that I don't need to adjust for aiming when using sidespin for short distance shots

Is Kielwood Shaft relly low deflection?

From what I know a kielwood shaft is a shaft that has undergone a process called torrefaction, where the wood is heated to high temperature to remove sugar and water in the wood. I don't know much about the science behind it, but I'm curious as to whether this treatment actually reduces...

    2023 Wisconsin Open ticket?

Hi, I'm interested in going to watch Wisconsin Open in person, but I can't find any info about buying the tickets or whatever. Any one knows if I can just walk in Ho-Chunk to watch the game?

Optical Flow Density with Open CV

This is cool! I heard that golf balls have chips in them, why not cue balls? I'm curious how the inside of the ball with chip would look like and not impede playablity.

    Dr.Dave's 30 degree rule visualized

I think another point to add is that the rolling CB carom angle, in particular 30 degree rule, is the same on any table conditions (slow/slick tables), so one only needs to judge when the curving of CB ends.
