    Cuetec Cynergy Maintenance

Hi guys, probably a dumb question but I'm going to be purchasing a Cuetec Cynergy shaft in the near future and was wondering if you HAD to use rubbing alcohol to clean it, or will a damp rag suffice? The place I play only has swamp coolers (no AC) so it gets humid in there. I plan on using...

    Sky Woodward - Record "24" ?

I hardly ever post here, but about a year ago or so I asked if anyone had seen Efren shoot the shot you just described. I've heard differing reports on how he hit it; some people saying he lagged the ball in and some people said he hit it with an elevated cue, firm stroke and half masse'd it in...

Importance of Knowing Your Individual Playing Pace / Tempo

As a side note, I think younger Efren had the best rhythm of anyone I've seen and try to emulate it as much as possible. Quick but not fast, looks so relaxed while he's playing. He's almost in constant motion without being hurried, and the balls seem to just go in automatically and the cue ball...

Importance of Knowing Your Individual Playing Pace / Tempo

I had this same discussion with a friend of mine recently. One of the best players I know is like a 10 on your scale, runs out hitting center pocket with everything hit firm and never getting out of line. I've seen players (myself included) experiment with playing at his pace/style and no one...

    Speed Control Drills

Hi Bob, do you have a video or know how Efren shoots the spot shot without hitting a rail? I've done it by masse'ing the cue ball slightly with a semi-soft stroke. I've heard Efren shoots it on the firm side with an almost level cue. Haven't had the pleasure of seeing him shoot it live, only...

My 8 year olds new cue and yes, I'm very jealous!!

Congrats to Jin on the new cue! May I ask what brand of case he uses? Been looking for something similar. Good luck to Jin on his all future matches as well

    Places to play around Denver

Also forgot to add that Love's Shack near 72nd and Pecos has free all day pool on Sundays as long as you buy a $3 drink minimum (a soda). Good place to get some practice for cheap. Nick the bartender is a very good pool player and he works the Sunday shift fairly regularly, and I've run into a...

    Places to play around Denver

I live in Thorton. There's a 2:00 tournament on Fridays and Saturdays at Thirsty's Sports Pub on 104th and Marion. Friday is $5.00 to get in and Saturday is $10.00, race to 2 alternate break. Tends to be a smaller field on Friday and Saturday is around 20 or more. Saturdays tends to have the...

What changes that you made in your pool playing history that is memorable to you

    1. Playing tournaments, cheap sets weekly. 2. Aiming banks and kicks as intently as I focus on tough shots. 3. Playing weird games like bank last pocket 8-ball. I can now regularly make multi-rail kicks and banks to pocket the ball (instead of just hoping to get remotely close). Also makes you...

    14.1 on 7 footer

This is a timely thread as I was about to post almost the exact same thing. I recently started playing 14.1 to improve my pattern play, touch, and ability to break out clusters. Recently watched John Schmidt's 366 ball run and Mike Sigel's how to run 100 balls on youtube to learn how a pro...

Standard Definition for Tips of English

Actually, now that I look at the diagram again my definition of tips would be 1 tip is at the 1/2 tip mark, while 2 tips is the 1.5 tip mark. I guess I really don't have an idea how many tips I'm applying lol.

Standard Definition for Tips of English

Hi guys, came across this diagram (taken from http://billiards.colostate.edu/threads/English.html) showing how many tips of english translates on the cue ball. I never really thought that people might have a different definition of what "1 tip" of english actually means. Turns out what I thought...

Ultraskin vs Sniper vs Kamui Tan

Thanks for those links! I do tend to like a harder tip, just got used to it since all tips harden over time I go long periods before tip changes. Based on those hardness ratings I think I'm going to try an Ultraskin Hard on this first go 'round and see how I like it.

Ultraskin vs Sniper vs Kamui Tan

In regards to the above question, yes I have considered the difference in deflection between the 2 shafts. However, since both shafts are essentially the same (WX700 is the next gen WD700 with just a different ferrule) I was expecting them to play just about identical and that just hasn't been...

Ultraskin vs Sniper vs Kamui Tan

Thanks for the feedback guys, really helps out a lot. I think I am going to pick up an Ultraskin Medium to try out (maybe both a regular black and the newer SIB) along with some Snipers just in case. And yes, I could always just go ahead and play with my old shaft on my new cue but it doesn't...

Ultraskin vs Sniper vs Kamui Tan

Hey guys need a bit of advice on tips, appreciate your help as always. I recently purchased a new Mezz EC7-WMW about a month ago and my previous cue was an EC7-R. Old cue had the WD700 shaft and the new cue has the updated WX700 shaft, where the only difference is supposedly a new ferrule...

    Question about mezz cues

I'm on my 2nd Mezz EC-7 cue. My first one is an EC7-R and my new one is an EC7-WMW. Both cues weigh almost the same (19.5 - 19.7 oz) but the EC7-R is balanced at 19" from the buttcap and the EC7-WMW is -balanced at 18" from the buttcap. The EC7-WMW has a 2 oz. weight bolt to bring the weight up...

    Pat Diveney Butt Dimensions

Hey guys just wondering if anyone had the butt diameter/thickness on a Pat Diveney sneaky pete? I've heard his cues have a slimmer handle and no one around me has one for me to check out. Thanks in advance for the help!

Revamping Don Q's Pool Hall in Santa Barbara

Haven't posted anything in a long time but just had to drop a note on the pool hall I grew up in. I've seen the place go through a few owners hands and it's great to see a couple of guys who really appreciate the game do something for the players. Both the owners are great guys and I wish...
