I think you lost track of the thread. Those are the myths, not my opinions.

What are the odds of USPS losing your cue while in transit, or anything going wrong?

They move millions of pieces a day and don't lose them. The probability would be pretty slim of your package not arriving as long as you use the right service.

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

Money doesn't mean that much and even less to a gambler. If it did no one would spend $35.00 including the over priced snacks to see a 90 minute movie. People would never spend what it cost to smoke or drink, they would never tip or pay the high cost of a restaurant meal they can make at home...

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

That is correct, it is something outside the money that creates the pressure. A millionaire is not playing for the money, he is already rich. His biggest fear is looking like a fool, making mistakes or being a sucker. The same applies to the $5.00 player. The pressure is imagined, it does not...

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

I would assume someone playing for $5000. is a $5000. player and has a bankroll that can support that kind of play. Also a person with big bankrolls who gambles it are also not playing for the money. It is all relative. You are projecting what you may do for a $5000. bet, not a high roller who...

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

What is the source of this pressure or extreme pressure you describe? Not rally the money. You can spend a few hundred on dinner. The actual money doesn't really make a lot of difference to anyone. Few are playing for life changing amounts of money. The pressure players feel is something other...

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

I doubt someone invests years in playing and thousands and thousands of practice dollars to beat a guy a $50.00 game of one pocket. Winning money is not why people play the game even those who like to gamble.

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

I am not sure many who gamble at pool are trying to win money. It just makes it real and is a way of keeping score. Many times after a matche the winner may say he will get the time that may be half of what he won. Obviously he is not playing for the profit he may make.

What kind of pool table is this and would you jump on it for $1,500?

Without having read any of the responses I will play along. I would say not necessarily. If everything is intact and factory original then of course it is worth $1500.00. But for the average buyer, they will also have to have it moved and set up and possibly more expense depending on the real...

Why is gambling so popular in pool?

Pool is a competitive activity. Unless there is a risk and reward outcome, what is the point? Every player almost without exception if they lose playing for nothing will say, "Well we were not playing for anything". This is to imply that they were not really trying in an attempt to rob the...

Who uses/ knows of a portable pool table FOR TRAINING ONLY with folding legs?

Here is a misnomer about having you own table. It has to fit perfectly. A very popular posting on here is people showing pictures of dream home rooms they have built. These are nice and can be very discouraging for the guy who doesn't have a place like that to put a table. Any table you have...

    SVB Bit By Spider

It is worse then that, they will build a web in a few hours. When you watch them work it looks like a film in fast forward they work so fast. I never walk in the yard without a flash light and watch in front of me. You may walk down a path you walked just a few hours ago and there is a web...

    SVB Bit By Spider

I was bit by a brown recluse spider years ago. I killed it and kept it so that is how I know what it was. I was in the ER within a few hours. The spot on my arm where it bit me swelled up like a softball and the skin just died and fell off. They gave me some kind if anti venom or something but...

saddned at my loss of passion for this sport

I have been playing since the early 60's and have quit for years at a time. I run into guys that used to play like fanatics it was all they did and you always hear the same thing. "How are you playing"? "Heck, I haven't played in years".

Do you let up against friends?

If it is someone who can play, then we just play. I don't really like to play with friends that don't really play. I just stay on the side lines.

Songs that make you think about pool

Not really songs that have anything to do with pool, but songs that were out at a certain time when I was playing or hanging around a certain place. I remember playing "California Jack" in a place and the song "Year of the Cat" was on the juke box. It played almost non stop. When ever I hear it...
