How often do you see your local players with a really good, and solid Pre shot routine?

I don't agree with that analogy, the rifle is passive, you push the button, the bullet travels down the barrel on its own, you have no control over the bullet speed or the accuracy past holding it still. If you use a clamp on the rifle with a button to set it off, the rifle will still do the...

If you use a jump cue then most likely than not I'm getting ball in hand....

Not really true when people use a jump cue, they make it very easy to hop a ball, even if someone never practices with it. Takes a few minutes to learn to jump at most distances. Biggest issue with a jump cue, it's there because of marketing and product sales not because the game is better...

Forum bug making my post infinitely liked

Nope, that was the only one that ended up that way. It showed up on my phone that way, so the time is set by internet time clock.

How often do you see your local players with a really good, and solid Pre shot routine?

I am seeing more and more players using a deliberate method to shoot, even the not good players. The internet, YouTube, etc... has caused a lot of people to get easy access to online instruction and more players are trying to learn to play the "correct" way. I have visited several new pool...

    fargo rate not changing??

The third follows the first two, just a matter of semantics. Taking something after deception is the same thing as theft, I guess it may be fraud if we are going to try to use a different word hehe.

    Is this legal

I had a group of guys tell me using the coins under the rail to mark the score was illegal, after their friend fouled by picking up the cueball when it was not ball in hand LOL. People are just odd at times with what they perceive is allowable or not, or are just seeing what they can get away...

8 man private at home league

Someone in my area runs a pretty big league out of their house. There are probably a dozen or so players, maybe more, they also play poker at the same time while waiting. It is definitely a thing that can happen and be successful and fun.

What does a good stroke feel like?

You could describe a good pool stroke in one word I think.. "Smoooooth"

    About Grady Mathews

Grady was one of the smartest, sharp witted and humorous players I have seen. Only met him once during a 90s Joss event at Country Club USA, but the whole day when we would run into to each other he would talk to me like we have been friends for decades, saying things in quiet tones just to me...

    New pool website

The lists at that billiardparlorusa is horribly outdated. I checked the MA listings, they have pool halls listed that have been closed for 10+ years. I have yet to see a single one of those sites keep up with the changes and keep relevant info on file to search.

    Biggest lies in pool stories

There are a lot of exaggeration and misconceptions about pool ability from many non-players. When I talk to people about playing, I hear things like "My son is so good he went to Vegas for pool", said son is like an APA 3 or 4. Or people saying "I play but I don't play in league or anything"...

If you could build your dream room that actually has a chance to stay in business…

That is one high end bottle of Macallan. My normal scotch drinks at bars, etc.. is the 12 yr stuff (Glenlivet, Macallan, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie are the most common) , and that is around 10-20 tops a glass/shot depending on the place and exact brand. I usually order a double and it's around...

    Biggest lies in pool stories

Is it "I paid my way through college hustling pool" or "I have not played in a while"? One is a player who clearly can't hold a cue properly, the other is running out 3 racks from the get-go LOL

Fargo Starter Rating Affecting “True” Average?

I find it hard to believe that you would be off by more than 50 points off estimating even if you watch a single rack played. I guess it may be tough to see a 600 vs a 650 or a 650 vs a 700, but most of the newer players to Fargo are more like 250, 350, 450 or so, and you can tell those apart...

there are only two kinds of cues to own.

Put me down for a Travel Cue :) I also have several "main" playing cues depending on my mood at times. I have maybe 3 shafts that I can play with equally, and a few cue butts I use every so often. My collector cues are all from friends who passed away and I ended up with their equipment. I...

    How do you get down?

Not making it more complicated, I think it's seeing more options as to how you can stand. It is a pretty complex motion, not as bad as a golf swing because there is no body movement, but a lot of factors are involved to get a good stance to allow a straight stroke. When you break down the pool...

    How do you get down?

It may not be very important for the top players, but beginners and even intermediate players may be helped with adjusting their stance. I look for as many different ideas as I can to try to get new players into a comfortable stance for them since the body motions needed for poor are so new and...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

I am not even a 600, and when I visit random pool halls, on any random night I am almost always of the top 4 or even top 2 guys there even with a full house of a league going. I was in Jacksonville a month or so ago, went to a new pool hall for me there to hang out with someone I met through...
