    @realkingcobra Any thoughts?

    Corner pocket shelf

I'm guessing you have pro cut pockets (4 1/2"). It's not much help now but you should have ordered league cut (4 3/4") or 5" pockets from the factory. The pro cut is quite a bit more difficult, the opening is smaller obviously but combined with deep shelves you can definitely hang balls. I like...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

In the end I don't really care. I will play whatever the league I'm in calls for. I prefer all ball fouls. My first serious 8 ball league was all ball fouls. It made you be more careful. This was back when I was lucky to make 3 shots in a row. After coming back to pool it was "CB only fouls"...

Mark Wilson on sidespin to pocket balls

I hate talking in "tips of english." It's no real measurement, maybe a ballpark, maybe. I like how Ted G. Brown talked about it in the Wagon Wheel book. He would say things like "the bottom of the tip 3/16" above center cue ball. Tips are all different sizes... do you strike the center of the...

    WWYD if Earl

I agree. The only way I see it going any different is if you were not feeling confident on table speed. If this was the case you could stun or slightly draw into the 9 firmly and accept a longer shot on the 6. It would be an inferior shot but I could see it in certain circumstances. Of course...

    Rotation & 9-Ball

Rotation was Efren's game. He used to practice racks of it before tournaments. I think it couldn't hurt. It probably also keeps your mind sharp by adding small sums and figuring which balls you need to win and such.

How to clean wood shaft after every use?

Microfiber towel. Rub vigorously. That's pretty much all that's needed. Eventually the shaft may start to feel sticky. At this point I'll hit it with IPA and follow it up with renaissance wax.

    Better than Phenolic

I can't say for absolute certain but it seems so. I was used to a bakelite tip. The bakelite can definitely generate spin but with the Samsara it was almost like any spin I tried to apply caused the CB to masse or something. I'm not a skilled jumper, so it is probably a skill issue, but my make...

    New Olhausen tournament model..................

I hope they take what they learn from these tables and fix the geometry on their home lines. It's quite a task, but once you fix the pocket geometry, Olhausen are a pleasure to play on.

Fullsplice of the day. Pool cue geometry called TULIP made in different colors every day

Did you ever get the blank you called compressive (I think) worked out? I've been watching, it was pretty intricate but looked super sweet.

Mark Wilson on sidespin to pocket balls

It depends. I agree with the principle but it depends on the conditions. One place I play has balls so clingy that you would be a fool to not use side spin. It's more like chipping a golf ball than pool but knowing both is good. I don't really think of myself as a good player but when conditions...

    Better than Phenolic

I don't have any idea but the Samsara would make an excellent break tip. I used it as a jump tip and didn't like it as much because it can generate a lot of spin. It would be perfect for a breaker however.

    Your thoughts and opinions please…

If you mean the recoil I would do something different. It's a great hard tip for a playing cue but it's a bit lacking for breaking, unless you break and play with the same cue. Their regular tips are supposed to be good (I've never used them though so I can't give an opinion). My favorite break...

Rule question Towel cloth in the pocket ?

If you put it farther up the shaft, the shaft is fatter and it no longer works. It would be highly dependent on the cue but the thing is too tight for a 12.5" shaft.

Rule question Towel cloth in the pocket ?

That particular one is all but worthless unless you have a 6" bridge or less. They are too small. You would be better off cutting a finger out of a glove. EDIT: I've used a bar coaster before when having to bridge on a sharp corner casting.

    Heavy Jump/Break Cue Feasibility

I recently tired a Samsara on my jump cue and I think it plays like a turd. It would probably be perfect for a break cue. IMO it gets too much spin for a jump cue and it feels slightly muted compared to the synthetic jump tips. Your advice is spot on perfect. A separate jump and break cue is...

    Richard Black - Black Baron

There was a notification on "social" tab relating to this post and it being for sale. I thought it was a stunning cue so I did the cardinal sin of bumping an old post... but with the knowledge it was for sale. I wish I had the funds but I'm blowing them on cuemaking supplies.

Forgive me for the dumb question, are these end or side ports for the air hookup? I'm assuming end but I've never saw one in person.
