How to find a good Pool instructor?

Feel his stroke, if it feels good, he's the one for you. If he wears a hat while playing and you like his sombrero, he's for you. Feel his glove, if it feels perfect, he's your man. Try on his shoes, shoes are the key, the man with the perfect shoe is the dude for you!

Cue Repair Lathe - Made mostly from hobby CNC and 3D printed parts.

I would stay away from round rails, even mounted ones. The round carriages just don't have the minimal backlash that profile rails do. Something like these...

Cue Repair Lathe - Made mostly from hobby CNC and 3D printed parts.

I'd guess that some of your chatter is due to the round rails on the carriage. You would likely see improvement by redesigning the cross slide to use size 12 profile rails. In all honesty, your lathe, as is, probably isn't any worse than the mid America I've used.. getting rigidity out of a...

Do you have special shoes for shooting pool?

I wear as many natural fibers as possible. I want my shoes to have leather without padding. I mostly wear wool socks because wool isn't just a great insulator, it wicks water and has anti-microbial properties. One of the previous posts talks about his shoes feeling like walking in soft sand...

Full length core instead of A joint?

I started doing a full core about a year ago. The first time I was making cues, I quickly stopped using a metal pin in the a-joint and went to a long threaded wood tenon. I then started doing partial cores at the joint and butt, so it was a logical progression. I now use a 0.625 core with a...

Do you have special shoes for shooting pool?

Dress shoes as a rule. Frye or Allen Edmonds boots some. Never tenner shoes.

Nothing makes them play worse, either.

Junk. There are plenty of reasons to not buy a custom cue, makers who screw customers, long wait times, expense (not really anymore, when you kitty cues and messes selling for over 2k). To say they are junk is ridiculous. There are plenty that are not great, but a decent custom has more...

Ring on shaft got stuck while repairing

What you are working on is a collar more than a ring. A ring would be additional to the collar. Effectively the same thing in this case, but rings can be many places on a cue and tend to be used as a decoration between two segments. The first thing I would do is to take use a file or coarse...

Ring on shaft got stuck while repairing

Leaving that and filling it with epoxy shouldn't even be a consideration. I expect that as @aphelps1 said, you are at the point where you are removing the collar by turning it off to the tenon below. The lucky thing is that you don't have fancy rings to replicate.

What does a good stroke feel like?

Read, 'the inner game of tennis'. It's only marginally about tennis and a lot of coaches make their players read it, including Pete Carrol of the Seahawks.

    Threading pool cue butt

Well, shoot. Always something, sometimes it's two things. Can you measure the threads on the insert that broke? What are your fabrication capabilities?

Yeah, it's called, 'over constraining'... Just like I said in my first post on this.

Thank you for the reply. I'm not disagreeing with you on the wave transmission, it is easily proven with science, I already told you an example. If you want to agree to disagree, it isn't with me that you are disagreeing. I toyed with a conical joint long before ever hearing of one...
