    old Joss shafts

I like the maple much better. I wonder if the Delrin was an experiment?

    old Joss shafts

Neither. They are supposed to be white but they appear to be made of Delrin or some other semi-translucent nylon material. They appear blue as would a thin film of milk.

    old Joss shafts

I didn't want to intrude on a related thread so here we go: A friend asked me to clean up a pair of old Joss shafts that he had & see if there was any interest in them. He is the original owner (didn't think to ask him what happened to the butt) and he is divesting himself of most of his pool...

    Tomahawk ferrule/material announcement.

I'm going to savor that title forever :-) Best of luck to you, Joe. I trust that Tomahawk's future is in good hands with Kelly. The new options he will offer is a good indication of that.

How many joint protectors can I get from one cueball?

This LINK will show how to do joint collars, which are the same diameter as joint protectors. There are other links on the page that will lead you directly to making joint protectors.

    Installing Full Threaded Pins

A cuemaker who lives in my area installs his 5/16-14 pins the same way. Over time, the act of tightening the shaft onto the butt slowly draws the pin out of the butt until it bottoms out inside the shaft. (if you think about it, the shaft is working as a "pin puller".) At that point, the cue...

    slabbing Ivory

Not insulted Thank you everyone. I appreciate your support but I didn't see Mr. Wayne's comment as disparaging in any way. Thomas has freely given me advice many times - as recently as yesterday - and should be commended for the advances in technique & innovation that he continues to bring to...

    ISO/wtb clear acrylic pads

1/32" acrylic warning In case anyone who purchased my acrylic pads is worried, I've not had a single failure reported, nor have I had any complaints about the hit. While I do not dispute polycarbonate's inherent strengths, in the real world, it hasn't been an issue. Carry on.

    ISO/wtb clear acrylic pads

Ryan nailed it. People simply like the look & despite all the naysayers, a pad has a negligible effect on the hit. Just think about all those ivory ferrules that hit great - even with a pad! Regarding patent infringement, pads have been used for decades. I don't see color or opacity as being...

    Coring, tolerances?

I store a chunk of beeswax above a light fixture to keep it warm & pliable. You can just "wipe" it into the center from a few different directions. Very handy & it works great.

    Coring, tolerances?

tolerances Coring techniques seem to fall into 2 distinct camps: 1. Those who use West System epoxies and strive for tight tolerances - .002/.003" per side as West recommends. 2. Those who use poly glues that fill the excessive clearances - .010" plus - needed for assembly. This VIDEO...

    Project Tomahawk ferrule material.

Project Tomahawk (PH) Review First, let me state that I have no stake in this endeavor. I was asked to try PH & review it. Since good ferrule materials are hard to find & usually require some sort of compromise, I'm always on the lookout for something better. Bottom line: I like PH. Not...
