So, for several of you, professional status is based on skill level? That's a new one on me.

Pro pool player's vs transgender athlete's

The word "amateur" appears only once in the entire APT website, in a news article referencing the Super Billiards Expo's Amateur Championship. That's it.

It's simple, just show me. I can't find it.

No, it's not! You can't just decide that a tournament is restricted to amateurs on your own, in your own mind, and then disparage the winners and the tournament organizers when the results don't match your notions. Whether a tournament is for amateurs is provable. So,put up or shut up!

Show me. I went to the Action Pool Tour web site and could find NO reference to the tournament, nor any of their tournaments, being amateur. Further, I found no eligibility requirement whatsoever regarding amateur versus professional status.

Initial thoughts after playing on a 12 foot snooker table for the first time.

I don't play pool on that table, I play snooker! What I was thinking of was that, since it's a Brunswick Gold Crown 12' snooker table, which someone said was made for the Canadian market, I thought it might have been set up for American standard snooker balls, which are 2 1/8", not the English...

John Higgins won 87.5% of his frames (games) in the Player's Snooker Championship this past week. He defeated world's best Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final. I wouldn't say that wasn't a competition.

Players dropping out of the Matchroom/Predator CLP

It works for snooker, which is orders of magnitude bigger than pool, in prize money, sponsorship money, fan attendance, etc., etc.

Players dropping out of the Matchroom/Predator CLP

I think Predator should have followed snooker's lead on this, and had a dress code that included rules on sponsorship on their clothing. I don't see anything wrong with limiting it, but it should restrict who the sponsors can be. And I would expect Predator's "label" to be the most prominently...

I think that that's exactly why companies sponsor athletes! Why else?

10 year old boy gets 147 doing a drill which to some is not the same as practice. This wasn't done during an actual game.

The thread title didn't say that when I commented, it has been edited.

Players dropping out of the Matchroom/Predator CLP

That's very foolish, small-minded on the part of Predator. Successful, large, sponsorship-funded events are always most successful with multiple sponsors, even competitors. Look at industry events led by large companies like Oracle, VM Ware, and so on - there are many, many sponsors, showing...

Let me be clear about what I was trying to say - saying that someone got a 147 implies that one got the maximum score in snooker. If you change the configuration of the game it's no longer valid. For example, why not just place a red and a black right in front of a pocket 15 times and then...

The reds weren't racked in a triangle shape, and it didn't start with a break-off; the reds were arranged in s a "T"-shaped pattern.

Nice, but that's not snooker, it's some other game they've invented played with snooker equipment.
