    Dennis O v JRB $100k middle

That's some strong weight right there. Takes confidence to give a player like Rob that kind of weight. Must have been a tough playing table.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

I believe for singles you don't need weeks played at the national tourney. Just a membership and entry fee.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

I wish I had had more time to talk with them and get more details and clarification. But alas I did not. I hope to retire to their area relatively soon and I will ask then.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

Not saying you're wrong, just repeating what they said. And no I don't believe they dumped to us to avoid any possible DQ situation. If so they would not have gone to the 5th match and almost won it. They seemed like a very nice group and could not have been classier in the way they played and...

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

Since it has been brought up many times about a team having 5 players raised and it being automatic that they were disqualified, I'll add that a team we played said they had 6 players raised. They were not disqualified. Btw.

    Chicago player

I just saw he was 58. Very sad. Played him many times and once we got a chance to talk a few times he loosened up and was quite fun to talk with. Old school for sure in how he played and how he interacted with people during competition. Met him around 1990. He still played good at that time for...

    Chicago player

Tom was a beast for sure. I think he may have been early 60's when he passed.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

Nope. All gets kept and 2 year vacation from the league.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

These are just tidbits of my opinion, poorly organized I'm sure, based on what I saw this year and have seen for the past 29 years of APA events. Playing in the APA national tourney is definitely a sometimes challenging thing to do without having to deal with some stressful situations. It's...

    Bridge Hand Arthritis

Should have stayed in school....... My 25 years of being a tile-setter have caught up with me recently as well. Same exact spot for my arthritis as BlackBalled. Had a cortisone shot in the joint 3 weeks ago and have had zero relief. Been trying different creams and some cbd products. Still...

Best Calcutta deal you've heard of

Circa 1991. I was dating a girl at U of Illinois and I heard about this tourney on saturday just down the road in Charleston,IL at Styx. Don Yost's place. Dave Miller was the tournament director. I think it was about a 40 or 50 dollar entry. Dave asks what my hcp is in his tourneys. I say this...

billy kirshner AKA billy the kid

I played him several times in the 90's on the bar table. Always a gentleman and played quite well. The guy staking him always had good players with him and never a hassle to gamble with. The good ol' days.:)

The cue you wish you had back

Some time in the mid 90's when Danny Harriman was running around the midwest gambling with everyone he came through my area and needed some cash. I traded him some money and a plain SW for a 1of2 ever made Joss East cue made for Mike Sigel. Bunch of ivory floating points and the trademark...

    The unestablished fargo player

Around my area no one reports scores to Fargo that I know of. Most of the people I've talked to just have the starter rating that reflects what the BCA had them ranked at nationally. Unfortunately some of those rankings are based on how you played in the past, not present. Also, quite a few...

Exactly What are the Reasons Pool gets Tougher as you Age?

Physical ailments. That's an all-encompassing statement I know, but it's different for everyone. For me it is brutal tremors and vision that needs some work. From a non-ailment standpoint, I would just say that it is harder to stay focused for long periods of time these days. I've got a couple...

    Jason Hunt- lol

Just got this report from one of my closest friends that he got unceremoniously thrust into the middle of the other nights fiasco. He was sitting watching Jason and JT play and Jason ran his mouth and BT had had enough. BT and Jason ended up in my buddies lap with their physical confrontation...

    Essential Tremors

Thank you for the advice. I'll see how it goes with my doctor but Rush is a possibility. I'm to the point where I have to do something or consider not playing. Let's face it, having to time your stroke between shakes isn't exactly fun.:)
