    Iron City split bracket...$$$$!!!!!!!

I used to live in Birmingham. There is a pretty big gambling culture around there...much more than I have noticed around here in Nashville. Seems when the greyhound track shut down, folks had an itch to scratch....Heck I had a group friends that would run weekly squares on the area high school...

SJM Sizes Up 2024 in Pro Pool

I haven't watched many of the Americans outside of those two, as they are often on the TV tables at the big tournaments. It seems as though styer is just missing "something" that is keeping him out of the money. I am not sure if shane wolford's game is continuing it's upward trajectory, as I...

SJM Sizes Up 2024 in Pro Pool

So if you were put on the spot, when is the next major won by an American, and by whom? Seems like the last 8 or so years, I have been hoping "this is the year Sky breaks through the glass ceiling." But now I wonder if it might be a different American. Oscar said he is done chasing MC points...

    Cheapest way to ship chalk?

I put a quick and dirty .stl on thingiverse that took me a few minutes to make in solidworks. Was only downloaded a couple of times in a year. Ended up deleting it, but the one or two prototypes I gave out have at least been holding up. Hope you have fun with it and make some $$ in the process!

Pool in Europe vs USA: 7-foot vs 9-foot tables

Your scenario CAN happen, but it is not the norm, especially today. Used to be, all American Olympic athletes were amateur athletes, which meant other than a residency at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs, they were likely collegiate athletes. Now? Let's look at the most popular...

Pool in Europe vs USA: 7-foot vs 9-foot tables

Very interesting thread! I think a big factor in getting those players to "elite" level is the ability to make a guaranteed, consistent living at their craft. Having to work 40 hours a week and then put in the practice required to get to 800 is a big ask for that regional pro...

Pool's latest growth in popularity is due to...?

I totally get what you are saying, and agree for the most part, it's all coming down to video game reflexes. And true, that There are a lot of guys doing it. But one thing hasn't changed in all these years...only one guy can be the best.

    Where's Cocobolo Cowboy?

Well you just summed up every thread on AzB for the next month at least. Pool is no different than any other past time/hobby. Check out any car forum, gun forum, Reddit, FB, etc. and you will find people hashing and rehashing the same things over and over. Might as well do it with pool...

    Mosconi Cup 2024, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, Orlando

Oh I thought Sky squeaked in the points in hanoi. So he didn't pick Tyler and Billy then.\, just Billy. Agreed. If you saw Oscar's FB post, he stated he is not chasing points next year...only playing the select tourney's that make sense for him and his family. It's a shame. Until those that...

    Mosconi Cup 2024, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, Orlando

I am a big Oscar fan. I think he is the epitome of a professional and He has put a lot of miles and time in chasing the points to be on this MC team this year. He has earned the right to be on the team, IMO. Having said that, I think Billy is custom made for this event. He has a swagger and...

Joshua Filler withdrawn from the Mosconi Cup!

Mosconi, Greenleaf, Reyes, Bustamante, Orcullo, Pagalayan, Strickland, Archer, SVB, and many others... Does Filler really deserve Top 5 ranking of all time? He certainly has some great titles and his stats are unquestionable...but does longevity have any say in the matter? I mean, a...

    Pool hall pictures

Some of they great ones have gone, some have changed to keep up with the times, others are like time capsules. I would love to see some pictures of the rooms that are mentioned on the forum here. For my contribution, here are some photo's of a "time capsule" pool hall, in my opinion. J.O.B's...

    WPA Bans 245 Players

Interesting side note shared with me by a Chinee foreign exchange student back in college. A lot of this practice goes back to when China had the One child per family law. Many folks wanted sons, for a variety of reasons. Therefore daughters were not as highly prized. In rural areas, if a...

Which city is the best in the world for pool in 2024?

Good first post. There is a ton of stuff to learn on here. Dig around on the site and you'll have a few months of good reading and advice. I was going to mention he hook up with Justnum, as I think he plays out of one of the halls mentioned... RTR! A good enough road player could make a living...
