    olive wood...............

Here are some pictures of the forearm. Cue was made by a relatively unknown cuemaker in 1995. Kevin Revay of Ambridge PA. I think he is in Monaca PA now.

    olive wood...............

Thanks. It is a bocote forearm. I'll take some more pictures and post them. It has a flat faced joint. Hits softer than I am used to. (I am more used to piloted SS joints)

Who made this 70's cue? He thought it was a Gus Szamboti...

The inlays are similar in shape to the one in the Billiard Encyclopedia as well as the Mike Siegel Joss in the new BB. I have some decent pictures of the inlay shapes on the Nick Varner Cue, but not sure how to post them since they are 3+ MB. Scott

    Meucci Collectors

Chris, I reside in western PA, near Pittsburgh. Iusedtoberich, Wow that road runner cue is something! I like how the coyote is carrying a knife and fork. I'll bet the cue is even more spectacular in person. Regards, Scott

    Meucci Collectors

Chris, Again thanks for the info. The one my friend picked up is in decent condition, but is in need of a touch up. (He picked it up for less than what many cuemakers charge for a shaft.) Yes I am jealous. I have never owned any Meucci cues, but some of the older designs are attractive...

    Meucci Collectors

Chris, Thanks for the information. A friend of mine has the "Road Agent/City Lights" cue with the old logo. I was thinking it was from the early 90's. In my experience with Meucci cues it seems like the inlays pop up over time (or the wood shrinks). When you touch the cue you can feel the...

    nicknames....

I hope you are recovering well from your fall. I hope you don't take offense, but I thought of one that is sort of related to your unfortunate accident. The Penguin <--- Flightless bird I knew a fellow that did roofing as his profession. His co-workers called him "The Jumper" because of his...

    nicknames....

Good luck on your quest. Nicknames aren't chosen by the person that wants one. Sometimes they are given. Most times they are earned. (usually for doing something stupid, odd, unusual, outrageous, etc....) Kind of an extension of their personality, or a contradiction of some type. The ones...

    color of money

About 6 yrs ago I found it in a liquor store in Houston TX. They only had it in 1/2 gal bottles. Didn't want to lug it back home on the plane...

    Greetings

I have a Southwest ticket I would be willing to trade for the Mottey. It is a roundtrip anywhere they fly...oh wait, you mean a Southwest cue. Dang. :D

To All of You Lurking Out There....

Hello everybody. I am mostly a lurker, but occasionally post. A little about myself: I play pool in two leagues, but I do not take it too seriously. It is more of an excuse to socialize with my friends. I like to buy cues, but would not consider myself a collector. I currently have 15...

    I am disappointed...

I have had work done on several cues by Proficient Billiards. The cues turned out great. What did Proficient Billiards (Scot) do to remedy the situation? Was he given a chance? Just Curious. Regards, Scott

    Birdseye vs. Curly maple

Since Maple is being discussed, I thought I would throw something else into the mix. How about Quilted Maple? Anybody know if this would be suitable for cuemaking? Thanks, Scott

    Cortland wraps?

Thanks to everybody for the history lesson as well as the valuable info. I will have to check it out to see what it is. My grandfather was an avid fisherman, and I have inherited that trait also. (Even though I did not inherit his box full of original wooden plugs and lures.) He would take...

    Cortland wraps?

Thanks for all of the information. I will have to look at it in greater detail. I have two old reels that my grandfather used for fishing up in Canada. One has the line in question and the other has steel line. I think he used them for trolling for lake trout. Regards, Scott
