    How Does This Happen?

Hit the ball with outside on both shots. Straightens the cue balls direction up when playing these shots. You may think you didn't hit with outside but you must have, and quite a bit of it at that.

    ISO: Position Zone Tool

Buy a few sheets of a3 paper and cut thin straps of varying sizes and leave the along the rails. Place the straps on the table to create the borders of the zone. You can cut plenty of straps from an A3 size so it should be quick to change. It also doesn't restrict you to a rectangular or...

I Used to Use a System But Now....

I always thought everyone just looked at the pocket, then the object ball and automatically got the eyes behind the cue ball along the line of aim and got down. How wrong I was. It is the way I do it and it wasn't until I joined this forum I learned about all the different types of systems...

    Rolling The Cue Ball

You lack confidence in rolling the cue ball, right? Its something you're not used to naturally doing, right?thats why you're having issues. It brings doubt into your game. Am I going to make the ball, get shape... Too much going on in the head. I agree when you reach your level of play you...

    Vision Centre Shift

Do it! I enjoy reading tips from other players. Can never have enough pool advice. I appreciate yours and everyone else's help in trying to get to the bottom of this. I'd like to see a thread on your thoughts on the grip. It will help lots of players out as I think it causes the most common...

    Vision Centre Shift

My wrist is nice and straight all throughout the stroke. The vision shift doesn't make a difference to my cueing at all. I can still score heavy and make the breaks I just find it odd. Everything I've read points to it being fixed but I'm experiencing something different. It may be due to...

    Vision Centre Shift

I've dropped you a message John. I'm not a huge fan of trying to get the head in one specific place under the eyes every shot. I always tell people to sight the shot and stay on this sight line with the vision as you get down and bring the tip to centre ball. 99 times out of 100 a player will...

Best advice for fixing stroke and line of aim

I can't wait for Bob to reply. I assume his answer will be something I take for granted but I'm hoping he has picked up on something I've never noticed before that I can test out.

    Vision Centre Shift

Does anyone experience this? One week, day, month you play with a certain vision centre and you play great then you start to play bad and can't hit the cue ball at all then you shift the vision centre slightly or drastically in some of my experiences and you play better than ever for a while...

Best advice for fixing stroke and line of aim

I agree it isn't for everyone. But I feel you must have been doing something unorthodox if you found it to be restrictive. When done correctly your cueing accuracy goes through the roof and with that you are able to develop greater accurate cue power which is the important thing. The only way I...

Where should I go to become a Pro.

The UK has plenty of players that should be Pro, but for what ever reason they've chosen not to pursue it. So naturally, if you can get in with playing some of these players on a regular basis you will improve. It's rather cliquey though so getting in with them as a regular practise partner if...

Best advice for fixing stroke and line of aim

4 point contact is a lot more beneficial on the 10ft + shots. The video with nic is fantastic. It will cure all your alignment issues if done properly.

Best advice for fixing stroke and line of aim

You have to keep perfectly still, or try to anyway. Keeping the head still has a knock on effect across the entire body and shot. Don't rush the shot or try to hit it harder than is needed, which is a common problem people face with distance. Ding, who I consider to be one of the best long...

    The butthand grip

More important in 3c than a lively stroke is an accurate stroke. Hitting the cue ball accurately is the most important thing in any cue sport. A simple change in grip can absolutely make your cue action more accurate. Subtle changes can have a huge effect on scoring. The problem is never in...

Is the cue only in contact with the chest once down? It's true snooker players use the chest as a point of contact with the cue. I find the chest helps with horizontal movement of the cue, and the chin helps with vertical movement of the cue. The chest contact is also an excellent alignment...

    CB & OB Close

Man up, and Jack up. I see a lot of players pushy foot around these shots and just end up dabbing the white. Hit it like you mean it and don't have a care in the world about double hitting the white when you practise these. A few hundred of these types of shots will teach you how much elevation...

I do like the idea of creating a line of aim with an optical illusion to help keep a players sight line from swaying either side of it. I still feel a mirror and some tape is a more effective way to learn this but I admire anyone who has ideas and openly shares them to better serve the game...

I think for players struggling with sighting and placing the cue correctly for them under the eyes they need to forget the cue for a second. I always get them to line a simple straight in shot that's nice and short, maybe 1.5ft apart for example and get them to get get down into stance and line...
