APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

I like the APA, but it's not flawless. Over about 25 years, it's clear to me that the handicaps in a division can wander off in the high direction and once they get there, they stay there. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. In a division with no real 7s, the best 6 will become...

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

What was the stated reason for disqualification? I presume Sean was playing as a 7, in which case it would have to be other players on his team.

Ha ha. Yes, any one who proposes showing a basic modicum of human decency is in need of a "safe space." Decency is for weak-ass losers!

    Washington, D.C.

Both are great places. Atomic has only 8' tables and Bedrock only has 9'. If you're doing metro/uber, Bedrock is your best bet. If you want more than social play, Bedrock is also your best bet. Buffalo is ok, lots of 8' tables and a few 9' tables. But aside from league night, more serious pool...

    the fleece (resurrected!)

True. LED panels are a cool looking and more budget-friendly option. I do really like the Diamond lights too, though.

    Short 8 ball shot video

That might be ok on a Valley, but I personally don't like hitting it soft at all. Too easy to have a less smooth stroke or have the table get you. If I did want the cue to be rolling slow at impact, then I'd use a drag stroke--hit medium and very low so the backspin converts to forward roll...

    Short 8 ball shot video

Funny thing. It comes up enough that *I* know when a player in my league is at risk of the side pocket scratch. But it comes up rarely enough that *they* don't know about the side pocket scratch risk (with a few exceptions). Looking more closely at how you cue, (1) I don't think your bridge is...

    Short 8 ball shot video

Unless the table requires some other approach, I always just hit that with low right. Since your center right was going into the 8 ball, low right should beat it short. Also, the low will kill the speed so it might not even make it to the 8 ball.

Top End Segen 6-point Cue, 2 shafts

I had ordered the S-10 but after some delays, Evan sent me a fancier cue at no additional cost. But I don't know the model name or number. Weight is 19.25, wrap is leather, shafts are straight and un-dinged. One shaft has seen regular play and the other has probably hit a dozen racks or so...

Examples of Murphy's Law as it Relates to Pool

I've always called it the "one pocket scratch": when you think the cue ball couldn't possibly go off the footrail and into the side given the narrow angle. It can. It does. It will.

5 Impressive Events in Pool Over the Past 6+ Months

3 1 tie 2/5 4 4 is awesome, but more of an ebb and flow thing than something new under the sun.

Does John Schmidt Get into the Hall of Fame After 626?

You're more arguing why John's not the GOAT by virtue of his 626. But that's not the standard for HOF admission. This is subjective but to me, 626 is alone sufficient for admission. US Open, DCC, etc. only add to that.

    How would you run this?

Looks like you could start with the cross-over bank on the 1. Shape on the 2 if you make and safe if you miss. Hard to say if you'd play the 1 with follow, or stun to go straight down.

    Wwyd

Looks like you can hit it with stun and catch the long rail just short of the side pocket, go to the bottom of the table, and then back up to shoot the 9 in the natural pocket. You have about 2 feet of target zone with good shape on the 9.
