    cutting down a ferrule

    shortening the ferrule wont give u a firmer hit. just put on a hard tip.

    made q for myself years ago.first time i made one with ivory joint.had a horrible hit. i mean real soft and bad . changed ferrule twice and several tips. a customer gives me his shaft for a new tip on a cue i made for him. i screw it on my butt and a great hit.i know,i only made one shaft my own...

    diamondback tips

    Ferrules

    i agree with rhn and chris.also you are using metric mesurements so we dont know what you are talking about.haha just kiddin. the only metric measurements that we use are on the tips and od of the ferrules

    Shop Set-up - Lathes

    i agree with joey.cuemaking is machinist work first and foremost.buy chris hightowers book.i would also recommend his deluxe lathe.it is a basic lathe and very user friendly especially if you are not familiar with a metal lathe. if you cant do school,find a machinist to teach you the basics asap.

    Humidity Question.

    i would say buy from me cause i live in nj lol. honestly, there should not be a problem as long as you treat your cue the way you should, it should be fine.the humidity in the shop where the cue was made should be about 50 % from the time the wood entered the shop until completion.
