By pro taper do you mean a long section with little taper growth? I only ask as Cory's maple shafts have one of the stiffest tapers I've handled. But I have not held one of his kielwood shafts.

Good thread. I'm in a similar place as you are. Have never been a quick player when down on the ball but started one-stroking certain shots out of nervousness last year. I could write a mini novel to speculate on my reasons why. Specifically I've lost confidence on cueing certain shots...

I have not been to Clicks but will say the locals here recommend Rack's in Sanford. It's a nice room and smoke free and should be a tolerable drive from most parts of Orlando.

I have a Hybrid Alpha in united which fits 5/16x14. 12.8mm, 29 inch and 4.5 oz., has a few hours of play, if that's an option.

I found the original sale thread when I bought that cue. It was listed as Brazilian Rosewood. But hard to say where that info originated. Somewhere I got Pau Ferro in my head...I agree Cory probably would know best. The forearm is cored with maple.

It's an affliction which attacks obsessive analytic types of which I'm a perfect case study. For a descent into utter pool insanity, you can even analyze which pair of playing and break cues just might make you play 2.3641 Fargo Rate points better. My sarcasm aside, no you are certainly not...

I play most of my pool on them these days; they aren't my first choice in tables but work with my schedule and location. Decent playing tables as some have said here, but a notch or two below a Diamond or GC in my view. Good for lower and mid level league players as the pockets will suck in...

I've watched quite a bit of the Bigfoot tournaments and it definitely seems like there are fewer successful breaks than on a 9 foot. I don't have data to back that up though.

I am of no help here but did ponder recently how many 10 foot Diamonds exist. Enjoy and good luck, would like to clod the rails on one someday!

It's admirable you have been dealing his cues and have resisted the temptation to play with one. I don't think I could do that.

Predictably this has gone sideways...I'm only familiar with the standard taper and like it. Some will say it's too stiff but I found it to be a fairly comfortable taper for my taste. Wood shafts wear with time and use so if you go with it, give it some time to become comfortable.
