This is why we can't have nice things

The round robin format is easy to game. I have devloped and run a small round robin tournament and we decided to use blind scoring. The scores are announced at the conclusion of the tournament. It worked for us.

FS: Manzino ebony/ebony bridged veneer 4-pointer

Great cue from a top tier maker. Two full shafts. One 30-inch Vantage shaft with plain black collar. Stingray wrap. Two extensions. Smaller trade plus cash possible. Must be a great offer to tempt me as trade value is higher. Pics tell the story. Please message offers and questions. Asking...

    Bridge Hand Arthritis

I have something going on in the middle finger of my bridge hand. Seems to be arthritic. I just had an injection and am waiting to see how that takes hold. I am told that I have inflammation in the tendon/tendon sheath. It started almost exactly a year ago. Bottom line is that a closed bridge...

Your first ( good ) cue

I started with a one-piece Dufferin from Kmart and upgraded to a Viking two-piece cue when the tip popped off the Duff. I bought a Meucci Hook cue when the Viking needed a new tip. Shortly thereafter the Viking was broken in a bar fight. I ended up with another Meucci, when the Hook was stolen...

Round robin team event...handicapped or not?

That certainly is a possibility. I'm just not sure what that number would be. However, I'm not sure that a Fargo cap would be any more fair than what I have proposed.

Round robin team event...handicapped or not?

No final round of four in this format. It's a round robin where each team plays the other 11 teams. By using ball count scoring and blind scoring, there often are surpises when the final numbers are revealed. A great player can get beat 10 to zero more than once and that would likely be a death...

    Glasses

You would be best off with a script specifically for playing pool as mentioned. It's quite challenging to shoot with progressive lenses or contacts. As far as glasses go, my RayBans work well. They don't have nose pieces, so they sit closer to my eyes. I seldom notice the frame, but I probablt...

Round robin team event...handicapped or not?

I ran a 12-team round robin tournament in Alaska where we limited the teams to one player that's an A or above. Teams total three players. Top three teams and top three individuals get paid. It's ball count scoring, and the score are not revealed until the tournament is finished (no dumping)...

    Craziest shot you ever performed

I came up short trying to draw the cue ball for an 8-ball leave and was blocked from hitting it or kicking at it. So I kicked away from it and used English to reverse the cue ball off the rail. I hit the 8 and banked it cross side into the center of the pocket with just enough speed to drop it...

    Robert from Alaska?

I left Alaska last fall so I can't say for sure it's Rob Martin. It sounds like him.... I will add that Rob switched to a Bender long before I left town. He's a good guy and is on the up and up.

    International shipping

Don't ship ivory and don't insure for more than the declared value. I've always used USPS either priority or express. I've been told DHL is a better way to go. I can't help on pricing.

    My opinion about pool cues

This is profound. I would add that golf has it right in that a person can get clubs fine tuned to his or her swing. The technology is amazing. If there was money in pool like there is in golf, just maybe we would have the technology to fine tune cues to players. I don't think it will ever...

The cue you wish you had back

I had Barnhart butt that Cory made from a single, solid piece of Brazilian rosewood. I was foolish to let it go, but it went to a previous owner that begged to get it back. I've since had Cory build me a solid butt from a single piece of bocote. It plays GREAT, so I'm grateful to have it...

how much should i expect or look to pay for,,,,,,

I wouldn't pay more than 500, but I'm pretty patient and am a bargain hunter. Look on FB Marketplace. I just found a nice Valley table nearby for 350 bucks.

FS: Kent Davis 60-inch cue burl and ebony

Great cue. Full shafts. There is a flaw in the finish on the buttcap and very light bluing on the shafts. Strong player here. Looking to buy another cue, so no trades. Feel free to make an offer! Priced at $old
