gambling and robbing an intoxicated person-moral values-rationalizations

Just curious what kind of management (or lack of) this pool room has to allow this to take place?

    Buddy Hall

That’s quite a compliment to Wimpy, who was already in his 50s by that time, yet Buddy still claimed he was the best even at that age.

Problem with my shot making: advice needed

Sounds like it could be a vision center issue. You think you’re hitting center ball, but you might be hitting just a touch off center, consistently.

Turning wrist inwards during stroke. Need advice.

The Brunswick glove / wrist brace works well. Also, some advice I got from a pro player, remove your thumb completely off the butt of your cue

Palmetto Billiard Academy - New Room in South Carolina

It’s virtually impossible these days for a poolroom to make it without food, alcohol, and in most cases both. We have made it nearly 30 years without alcohol, but only because of a consistent food operation that attracts most of our regulars who have never once played pool here, and that we...

    Turning Stone XL

That is one lame excuse, as I’m sure an unlimited number of new ones could be provided for the event, most likely at no or minimal cost to him.

    Turning Stone XL

I wonder what Zuglan’s reasons are for not using the template? I know it presents it’s own issues for the players that have figured it out, but if they rack the 9 on the spot, it’s not automatic to make the wing balls but may be more likely to make the 1 ball in the side pocket? It still seems...

    Winston-Salem Pool

Not sure if they are open yet - was supposed to open like 6 months ago but they’ve had a number of delays. Don’t know if the original location on Jonestown Road is still open.

    Snow, chili, bourbon, cigars, pool................

January has been brutal so far here in the mountains of NC with no letup in sight! Right now staying safe and warm is taking precedence over playing pool.

2025 WNT Predictions for emerging players

Very sad that of the 10+ players you mentioned, I’m guessing that absolutely none are Americans.

2025 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

The thought of trying for my 14.1 high run now is kind of depressing after hearing of Jason‘s 832. Even if I’m able to string 3–4 racks which is unlikely, that seems paltry in comparison to Jason’s 60 racks!

    832

That sounds about right – I can’t imagine it took Willie more than 4 minutes per rack / 15 seconds per ball, even figuring in 30 seconds per rack to re-rack the balls.

    First Problem With Pirate Shipping

FYI, In the past, I’ve received surcharges from both FedEx and UPS when shipping tubes, so I learned my lesson. Apparently tubes can roll off the conveyor belts so they are not permitted without a potential surcharge being added.

Unless there is a near 6 figure $ incentive for him to reach it, I really don’t know why Filler or anyone else would put themselves through such a mentally and physically exhausting challenge. Also, attempting this for an extended period on overly forgiving sized pockets may not be very...

Nothing negative here to such an incredible achievement, but just curious how many in-person witnesses there may have been to this run, start to finish?

Jayson Shaw live High Run Attempts

Agreed, I didn’t think the combo was anywhere near as easy as the cut on the 3 or 5 or the shot in the side pocket. At that point, it was more likely mental/physical exhaustion that led to that unforced error. I’m not sure how he can mentally recover from that and start over, after running...

Experiments in looking at the cueball while delivering the stroke.

I agree, if you truly are looking at the CB last as well as focusing on the cue tip following straight down the target line on the follow through, if you miss, sometimes you don’t even know what went wrong, as you often do not even see what side of the pocket you missed on. However, for me, I...

Have you ever lost your cue?

It appears the majority of us keep up with our cues far better than we do our keys / cell phones / wallets, etc. That doesn’t surprise me, as most of us here covet our cues.

    Cordless vacuum

I’m There is absolutely no excuse that any poolroom that charges customers to play on their tables can’t spend 2-3 minutes per table every few days to keep their tables wiped down and vacuumed.
