    Cordless vacuum

That may be true for an owner / management that truly cares about keeping up their tables and cares about their customers having properly maintained tables, but clearly that is not the case here.

    Cordless vacuum

I would complain to the owner/manager and look for another Poolroom to play at if they don’t comply to make an attempt to clean their tables. If you bring your hand held vac in, I wouldn’t even bother asking them if you can clean it. Maybe by seeing you clean their filthy table, they’ll get the...

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

I disagree, unless the skill difference between the two players is huge. If it is, then I would agree with you.

Old timer short bridge hand length

The bottom line – the longer the bridge length the harder it is to strike the cue ball precisely where you plan to strike it.

Anyone made a Pool Related Resolution for 2025

I’m hoping to play in as many of our weekly Monday night 9-ball tournaments as I possibly can. The first one this coming Monday will be 5 weeks post total right knee replacement and could be challenging, if I’m lucky enough to stay in it long enough to play more than a few matches.

Which table is easier if you had to beat the ghost for $1 million?

Agreed, as opposed to most of us here, for a top player like Shaw, the 9’ GC would likely play easier than the 7’ Diamond playing against the ghost, as not only the pockets are more forgiving but the position zones are bigger and the chances of getting balls tied up is considerably less on the...

Need advice on a new table purchase.

Unless he’s looking to spend $11K-$12K, I assume he’s not considering a new GC.

Need advice on a new table purchase.

On this forum, virtually everyone here will recommend either a Diamond or a Gold Crown, nothing else comes close for a top notch playing table, but Diamond’s will generally have tighter pockets unless the GC’s pockets have been altered. If $ is an issue, used GC’s are likely to be found at a...

New pool room: The Crooked Cue, Colorado Springs, CO

Sadly, that’s been a long standing policy at many poolrooms historically over the years. Luckily, in our Poolroom in rural NC, we have never required anything from customers when they check out a pool table. Many out of state players are shocked that they are not required to leave an ID or...

New pool room: The Crooked Cue, Colorado Springs, CO

I have caught a lot of resistance on here when I’ve shared that at our poolroom, for the entire 29 years we’ve been open we strictly don’t permit players to eat while playing, and of course we don’t allow drinks to be placed on the pool table rails. The reason for the rule is obvious to all our...

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

Update – after playing four weeks in a row and winning three of those, the player in question has not played the last two weeks. Possibly related is the attendance was up to 48 in this week’s tournament, a considerable increase in participants from previous weeks. I’m not sure whether the TD...

Which table is easier if you had to beat the ghost for $1 million?

I know 9-ball is not 14.1, but just to provide an example of which table I know to be easier, at 67 years old, I’ve attempted 14.1 high runs in practice on both size tables many times, way more attempts/hours trying on the 9’ table. It’s been close to a decade since I’ve been able to run more...

Coming back off a long layoff is TOUGH

At 65, it doesn’t sound to me like you are that rusty at all, if you can follow up a 48 with another immediate 28!

Which table is easier if you had to beat the ghost for $1 million?

These days, I would guess that more members here have played on a 7’ pro cut Diamond than have played on a 9’ standard cut Gold Crown. You are correct that a more meaningful survey would be limited to players that have played extensively on both.

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

I’m just comparing this to the average poolroom’s weekly tournament. And as opposed to the huge $ Calcuttas you are referring to, the bidding for this event is almost always from the participating tournament players only.

Which table is easier if you had to beat the ghost for $1 million?

Fact is to this point after 36 votes, 3 out of 4 players in this survey choose the 7’ Diamond to play the ghost. I don’t look for this percentage to significantly change back towards the 9’ GC even if we get 500 votes.

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

The average player will go for say $60 in the auction, which means even to buy 1/2 of themself back from the high bidder, now they have $60 invested in this tournament, not $30. For a number of players, that is closer to or more than $100 invested. Yes, I realize participating in the auction...

Which table is easier if you had to beat the ghost for $1 million?

The half table shot on the 7’ table is still way easier than the half table shot on the 9’ table. For all comparable shots, the OB is closer to the pocket on the 7’ table and the OB is closer to the CB on the 7’ table. For the cash would you rather shoot one spot shot on the 7’ Diamond or on...
