    Leveling kit?

I seem to remember seeing for sale somewhere an all-in-one leveling kit that included a handful of each of 2 different sizes of slate wedges, some under-the-leg pads, a stick of blue seam wax, and a packet of Jade Stone, all for one money. Reasonably priced, too, like $15 or $20. Does this...

Moving slate with dolly or hand truck?

I moved a similar load using my 63 year old overweight self and 2 15 year old guys. We wrapped each one in a blanket, and jury rigged a sling with a couple of 2x4's and some rope to get them out of a narrow basement stairs situation. I then stacked them flat and wrapped on a flatbed trailer for...

    Tool Recomendation

Hole=pocket and cheek = facing. I really need to proofread more and better.

    Tool Recomendation

Aah; OK; thanks. Followon dumb question: The cheeks are the pieces of padding that line the throat of each hole? That look like they're made of mouse pads? TIA

    Tool Recomendation

I'm not dingin' you here; I'm just ignorant. Where would this tool come into play when re-cushioning rails? The YouTube vids I've seen had guys prying up the corner of the old rubber and then peeling it off by hand, then scraping/sanding the revealed wood surface until it's fresh and flat...

    Anybody ever use this level?

Thanks! I'll check that out. The limitation on view angle doesn't sound like a showstopper (says he who has never done this before :-) ).

    Minimum Room Size

Thinking even more about it (perhaps too much?) nobody brings their cue tip as far back as the outside of the rail (the edge of the table). How would you support it? Why would you want to? Shooting at a ball frozen to the rail you are elevated to some extent by necessity unless you're looking...

    Minimum Room Size

IIRC I have 13' 8", not 15'. But as I said one of the "walls" is a couch (futon). I'm hoping to find a compromise, as opposed to feeding my couch into the fireplace. Thinking more about it, I guess the question is "When shooting, which is farther from the table: the butt of your cue or your...

Is there a help function here?

Never mind. I found it; you click on your name to the left of any post and select "find all posts by this user" or similar. Hope this helps the next guy.

    Anybody ever use this level?

That would have been a good idea, but I just looked and found out that Grizzly closed up shop in their East Coast site a little over a year ago. Driving more than 2 hours each way to examine a $100 tool would have added significantly to the cost, also.

    Anybody ever use this level?

    I keep bidding on and losing auctions for old Starrett 98-12's, so I thought I'd look around. I found this from Grizzly Tools: http://www.grizzly.com/products/Master-Machinist-s-Level-12-x-0005-Per-10-/H2683 'Grizzly H2683 - Master Machinist's Level - 12" x .0005" Per 10" ' $108 + $19 flat...

Is there a help function here?

Or ask the moderator/forum ops? I'm new here. I asked a question in (IIRC) "talk to a mechanic" and can't find my way back to see if there were any answers. I'm thinking that there should be a way to see all posts or recent posts by a user, but I can't find it. Thanks in advance - Dan Fox

    Minimum Room Size

I've got a 9' table showing up soon. My area is 30+' in one direction, but currently only 13'8" the other. That "other wall" is a couch which I would rather not move any closer to the fireplace. This has to be a common situation. I'm assuming/hoping that I can stand/shoot in that narrower area...
