How many players in Nationals for NAPA

They did extend them out a week. My LO said they did it because they were getting a lot of calls from APA players around the country who had LTC playoffs that weekend and wouldn't know if they'd be able to attend NAPA nationals until after that weekend. He also said something about more people...

How many players in Nationals for NAPA

Mark - It appears that the greens fees are the only thing funding the prize money. With 1250 players, that's $50,000. In 10-ball they said $10K - based on 250 players; which works with the math (250x40 = 10,000). The payout is not the only factor - but it certainly is something to consider...

How many players in Nationals for NAPA

I'm *still* undecided. I'm only going for 10-ball, and there's only a 113 players - only 33 in my bracket. I'm sure it'll be an okay time, and I saw from the event room layout diagram there'll be some vendors (not that I need any more gadgets, but it's fun to browse). I have a ride to and...

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

And because I'm a geek by trade, I wrote a little app to parse out that page and count up the players, and also look up their stats so I know how many are in each bracket. heh As of a few minutes ago, there are 463 in 8-ball 240 in 9-ball 113 in 10-ball

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

I, too, finally got an answer from my LO on the tables... They will be Valleys. Apparently they didn't renew the contract with Diamond for whatever reason. Also - if anyone else is interested, they extended the registration deadline another week, to allow for all the APA LTC's to conclude so...

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

Thanks for the update. I'm just wondering if the registered player list is an accurate list at this point. If there's only 50 people going, like I said in another post, I'm not really sure it's worth the effort to get there. But if the list isn't accurate, and there'll somehow be a ton of...

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

I think we can ALL agree that, no matter what the equipment is, we would all like to play on the same equipment, all the time. I HATE "travel" leagues because of the ridiculous variety of playing conditions. yeah, yeah, any good player should be able to overcome those differences - but the...

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

I can travel half the distance and play in the midwest 9-ball tour the following weekend if i wanted to play on valleys, and it'll cost less; but i'm not as positive about the possibility of getting into the cash out there as i (naively) am about atlanta. *shrug* if it were a huge event, like...

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

D'oh! That's exactly right - for all the formats. 10-ball is $10K based on 250 entries.

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

Also - the entry fee for the tournament is only $5, plus a $40 greens fee - to allow for open tables for practice and minis (between 9am and 10pm). I wonder how much of the prize money is being funded by the greens fees?

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

In your clouded memory - can you guestimate the number of players?? The registered players list (posted above) looks like there's only 45 people signed up so far. (and only 16 in my bracket) That seems like it would have HUGE impact on the available money.

    Chalk ahoy!!!!

I have lost Predator chalk down the barbox ... I've also dropped masters and blue diamond down there. predator chalk doesn't really roll that far on the floor, a few more turns than square. A round chalk gives you more access to the entirety of the piece, imo, especially without having to deal...

NAPA Nationals - No Diamond Tables

I'm still on the fence about going to Nationals, as I just finished my first NAPA session, and qualified in 10-Ball. Can anyone answer these questions: 1) Do they separate player skill brackets (A, B, Master, etc), or is it possible for a 40 to play a 90? 2) About how deep in the field do they...

    Mike Dechaine

If you care enough about what's going on with the Mosconi Cup the first thing you should've done when they announced MW as captain was look him up. I didn't see it either, I learned that little tidbit from watching a youtube video about the history of the Mosconi Cup. Most people have lives...

This right here is the problem with pool in the states. How does anyone with a serious interest in pool not know the person most commonly respected as the best instructor and coach in the country. Additionally, Mark played on the very first Mosconi Cup team, and incidentally sank the winning 9...

up and coming cue makers that we'll regret we didn't buy early

Gotta plug my guy (again) Josh Treadway, out of St. Louis. His website is unfortunately lacking in recent pics though. In my opinion the stuff he's put out in the last year is miles above what you'll find on the website. Website: http://www.TreadwayCues.com Facebook...

    CSI Podcast #3: Thursday, April 17, 6:00pm PST / 9:00pm EST

I think it's a fantastic idea actually. There's a lot of times where I'm blanking on a player they're talking about, but just putting up a little pic somewhere might be great. They already have the overlay ability with the names and whatnot - hopefully dropping a pic on that video layer isn't...
