    Rail cushion installation

What type of adhesive is recommended to glue cushions to the table rails? I'm going to replace the cushions on my Diamond w/Artemis cushions but unsure if ordinary contact cement or silicone adhesive will work or is there a special adhesive that is normally used? TIA Doug

Best Bar Box Player in the World?

Best Bar Box Player Vernon Elliott was the best. His name won't register with many of the under 30 age group and you haven't see his name on tournament rosters but ask some of the pros mentioned here ie, Keith McCready, Buddy Hall, Nick Varner, Earl Strickland, Mike Massey, Shannon Daulton...

    Recommended Replacement Cue Ball

Cue ball When I play with bad equipment I always lose. Come to think of it when I play with good equipment I lose. But my excuse for losing is always a winner!

    Rafael Martinez Passing

Rafael Martinez Although I never personally knew Rafael I know about him and especially since he lived here in Soddy Daisy, Tn and married, I am told, a waitress that worked at the local pool room. A neat story about him I think you will enjoy was told to me a while back by the owner of the...

    Tight Pockets=tight Money

Tight pockets I've noticed Grady Matthews describes virtually all tournament tables as having "cavernous" pockets---after he has been eliminated and back in the Accustats booth. As someone already mentioned the best players will win regardless of pocket size but maybe not by such lopsided...

    Pool Magazines?

Best magazine? When I first started playing pool I subscribed to every pool publication. BD was my favorite at the time because it seemed to cover events well and had a lot of vendor advertisements. I too, am a pack rat and saved every issue for 10 years; even all of "On The Snap" issues.

    whats goin on in tenn?

Re: Tenn I was told by the owner of Diamonds that Shannon and your friend were to play tonight and he thought I may be interested in watching the match. He never mentioned how they were going to match up, just that they were to play. Personally I'm a -D player and don't have nerve to gamble...

    whats goin on in tenn?

Re: TN The player you mentioned, Josh G., was in town a week or so ago and played Billy Bailey giving up the eight and break on a bar table and lost. Bailey is not at the top players level but that was a lot of weight.

    Strong, young players from Florida?

RE: Young Fl player He was in Chattanooga a week or so ago and played Billy Bailey giving 8 and the break. He lost. Didn't watch much of the match so never got a feel for his speed but not many people can give Bailey that much weight.

    whats goin on in tenn?

Re;TN I know he has played and beat Billy Bailey. Jonathon Hennessey, Billy Young, Bobby Pickle and others show up for the tournament but not sure if he has played any of them.

    whats goin on in tenn?

Re;tENN. Yes. He was supposed to play Shannon Daulton tonight at Diamonds in Chattanooga but he didn't show up. Got held up in Nashville I heard. Maybe they will play tomorrow after the tournament.

    Rubber cushion comparison

Cushion comparison Pelican, I believe the rail rubber for Diamond tables is made by Artemis and the rails for Olhausen is a synthetic rubber they call Accufast. Your solution seems like the best one to me too. Did you retain the same pocket size (tight)?--Doug

    Rubber cushion comparison

The room where I play has 2 Diamond Pro 9' tables and 18 Gold Crown IV's. After playing on both tables I have noticed that the Gold Crowns are much faster and the Diamonds are much tighter. But I am surprised at the difference in speed rebound off the rails. Also, when kicking off the rails...

    One pocket woes

Personally, I don't think better conditioning, diet, etc. would contribute significantly to preventing the lapses you refer to after playing a lenghty period of time. It may postpone it and would otherwise be very beneficial but IMO the problem is psycological. If you do this often enough that...

Is there anything wrong with breaking with playing Cue?

Currently the most prevalent type break used by pros seems to be a more controlled soft break. Watching Corey Duel break during the US Open as slow as 13 MPH it seems no unusual tip wear or tear should occur. Even the power breakers are not hitting them as hard anymore. Unless one uses a full...

    Need for break cue?

It seems that all pros and nearly all regular amateur players have break cues these days. Watching the pros break on TV at the US Open and seeing the measured speed shown during Corey Duels break as low as 13 MPH I wonder if it is a real benefit. The controlled/softer break seems to be the...

    do spots mean much?

Giving weight Two local well known high stakes gamblers who play pool at the normal short stop level will only match up with a pro player if they get the 6, the break, and the first shot. Matching up otherwise always results in the pro (road player) eventually winning. To me, a novice player...

    Exercise = a better player?

Being in shape It would seem logical that any contest between two opponents would be won by the one in the best physical condition-- all other things being equal. Side benefits may include longer life, higher quality of life, and getting to spend money won on whatever you want rather than...
