    Bank pool... Systems or Rote?

One day I was asking a friend who is/was a noted pretty good bank player, how to improve my bank shots. He knew and played Eddy Taylor and Truman Hogue. Also, had some pretty good proposition shots of his own. I told him I played by "feel" because the diamond system was too complicated. His...

Brunswick purchases Kentucky company, moves all operations to Mexico..

Re:AMF/Brunswick Before my interest in pool I was a motorcycle dealer representing many different franchises. One of which was Harley Davidson. I remember when AMF bought the manufacturer and I remember when they sold it. AMF nearly ruined the most iconic motorcycle manufacturer during their...

Revo pros & cons from someone who knows how to play

Cue shafts A friend of mine is a very good local player. He has one of the well known mass produced cue with a standard maple shaft so I got one just like it. He is just a slightly better player than me. So I bought a Predator shaft for mine to even the gap between us. He remained slightly...

    Elbow Drop?

Re: elbow drop Gifted players/athletes can and do learn poor fundamentals at a young age and go on to be phenoms at what they do. Keith McCready, Jim Furyk, among others are prime examples. However, most everyone will agree that fundamentally sound techniques should be used/taught to achieve...

    Derby City Dress Code

Re:Dress code My last comment: The purpose of this thread, I think, is to help and promote the image of pool. If successful, then professional pool players will be the primary beneficiaries. Personally, I will go watch them play and admire their talent and abilities regardless of how they...

    Derby City Dress Code

Dress code It makes one wonder how much better pro golfers could play if they were allowed to dress as casually as their caddies do? Incomes may triple, scores may plummet if they dressed in worn sweats! Of course such comments border on absurdity which sometimes it takes to point out the...

    Hager

John Hagar John had/has health issues and that may be why he isn't out so much. He was/is a very talented player and played very well for high stakes. He was schooled by his Dad, John Sr. and the King of Hustlers, Vernon Elliott. Always enjoyed watching him play.

    Derby City Dress Code

Dress code Maybe reverse logic makes sense. Lets say a company, small or large, wants to promote a product they wish to sell large quantities of. Naturally they would shun snooker players who are well groomed, attired professionally, and look to practice good hygiene. But send them players...

    Players you miss

Unfortunately Bobby Pickle has been "incapacitated" for awhile now. He was fun to watch and a top notch competitor. Probably the most polite pool player I have seen play; win or lose. If anyone sees or talks to him give him best wishes for me.

"Center Ball" ! What does that mean to you?

Re: Center ball Low, bottom, center ball draws cue ball when it makes contacts center of object ball. High, top, center ball makes the CB continue forward. Center hit on CB stops the CB providing it is still sliding (no back or forward roll) when it contacts center of OB. No CB deflection...

    Jensen Cues

Hey, you're right. Ok, I'll "dig" it out. I promise "you're gonna like the way it looks"! Now, the challenge may be how to post the pics here. Tomorrow, I'll figure it out.

    Jensen Cues

Jensen cues This note about Jensen Cues reminded of a limited edition sneaky pete cue he made and called it "the Handsome Danny Jane's" series. Good looking cue too. I bought one about 20 years ago and still have it. Hadn't seen it in years but found it in the closet in a cue case

    Earl banned by Pat?

Earl Yes, I agree. It's a given attitude expressed by those who are the best at whatever endeavor they choose. But they too must be held accountable for their conduct and behavior. Some of the best are thieves and con artists.

    Earl banned by Pat?

Re:Earl's behaviour Earl is one of the greatest of our American pool players. He is revered by many but could be revered by all. It's his choice. He can and does behave himself when consequences are properly explained to him. One instance I know of occurred a few years back at the US Open...

    Us open 10 ball

I wish more replies were like John Henderson's, politely disagree and explain his position without offense and name calling. All were, are, or will be champions. We, the pool playing public, are beneficiaries of great pool!

    Danny Jones

Mike Johnson (Jensen Cues) made some "Danny Jones" sneaky pete type cues 15-20 years ago. They were signed by Danny and were limited in quantity. Each cue signed as a 1 of 100 or some limited quantity. Ha a nice looking Hoppe ring butt cap. Anyone see these around anymore?
